500ml on tap at the brewpub in Regensburg. Aroma is very light malt and very light yeast. Appearance is cloudy brown with a Theo finger compact brown-ish foam. Taste is light sweet. Mild and well balanced. Very nice.

Plastics and peppery phenols mar this Dunkel’s toasted nuts, leading to an astringent finish.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A sheet of foam covers the cloudy brown with orange highlights.
-This didn’t taste like it was lagered for very long. Either that, or fermentation went uncontrolled for a while.
-Fruitiness attempts to help drinkability.
-There are so many great Dunkels in Bavaria; hard to imagine this brew doing well there, especially since the server told us that’s how it always tastes...

Röstiger, fast verbrannter Malzantrunk. Dieses Aroma hält einige Zeit an, leicht bitter. Zum Ende zeigt sich eine leichte Hopfennote, die an sich angenehm ist aber nicht wirklich zur Malzigkeit passt. 10/9/9/8//8

Tapped. Appeared dark brown with some reddish notes body with a good thick light-brown head. In aroma - some caramel, nuts, bread, but the aroma is not very strong. Clear rusty brown beer, nice creamy very light beige head, pretty stable, adhesive leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: caramel, cookies, dough, some spices, stable, cow fodder. MF: soft carbon, medium body, creamy texture. Taste: bit metallic, caramel, little bready, hint of mocha, some banana, sweet malts, grains. Aftertaste: little bitter, mocha, cow fodder, bit metallic.

Mid amber in colour with a tan head.
Malty, nutty, bready aroma.
Mid roasted malt flavour allied to fruits and a modicum of toffee/caramel.

Draft at the brewpub. Dark reddish brown and semi-frothy, the head firm and standing. Drinks with a chalky roastiness, with an almost-burnt toast aspect. Good. (#4374, 11/30/2011)
