A Double IPA featuring local hops for extra Wisconsin-ness. We are embracing the reemergence of regional hops in this citrus forward/fruit-finishing beer. As the name implies, there is enough Cascade and Mt. Hood hops jammed into each pint to warrant breaking out the pruning shears. Luckily the big body will be enough to soothe any scrapes or scratches that the Full Thicket might inflict.

Surprised at the hate this gets. Had it on draft. Def took about 3 sips but then wow, a complex ipa.

Bottle. Orange gold pour with a small white head. Grass and line hops, might be a little stale - picking up some cardboard. Meh - I’ve had much better from this brewer.

Bottle @ Greg’s house picked up in the Midwest. Pours a clear, dark orange appearance with a small off white head. Sweet bready, caramel malty, a bit spicy herbal bland hoppy aroma. Strong, somewhat boozy, spicy, chewy bready, bland herbal hoppy flavor. Not very good.

Bottled. Pour clear, lighter orange with a sticky off-white head. The aroma picked up fresh orange zest and piney bitterness over sweet caramel and biscuity malts.. nice and fresh, but it came across as too hot. The flavor found more of the biscuity malt and a little fruit at the core, with pine tar, orange zest, and fairly raw alcohol around.. finished spicy and warm, with a lot of fresh, tasty hops and a hit of rough boozage. Medium-bodied and lacking a bit of balance on the palate.. this wasn’t bad, but I was hoping for a little more.

Draft at Sugar Maple. An orange-tinged amber beer. Drinks wtih a funky earthiness, mashy and musty with a nutty, malt backbone. Rich mouthfeel. (#5159, 7/6/2013)

Reddish orange pour from draft at Murphy n son. White head. Super bitter and hoppy. Fruity and cherry flavors

Tap at Old Fashioned. Filtered orange-tan. Steady creamy off-white head. Floral, fresh citrus tones, but very balanced by the smooth golden malt. Straightforward, cool, crisp. Good beer, but not such and exciting IPA for 2013. Somewhat delicate, not piny or harshly bitter. OK. Forgettable.

Firkin Fest 2013. Something went wrong here. This is not good. Soapy aroma and flavor. No carbonation, and I found it undrinkable. A little hop character, but I have to wonder if something was wrong with this particular firkin.

Skyview (6093) - Papoose Jct, Minnesota, USA - MAY 27, 2013
On draught at the Old Fashioned in downtown, Madison, Wisconsin. Pours a clear golden amber colored brew with a fast dissipating off-white head that leaves behind some spotty lacing. Aroma of toasted golden grain malt, hint of pine and grapefruit notes, and a touch of tropical fruits. Taste is medium bodied, sharp bitterness at first with some toasted golden grain malt flavors. Finish is semi-dry, with both citrus and spicy grassy hops aftertaste. An average IPA overall.

notalush (5895) - Lakewood, Colorado, USA - JUL 16, 2013
Clear copper - not sure what’s imperial about this - tastes like a regular old IPA - flavor is clean, moderate sweetness - hops taste very earthy, so much so that the beer kind of tastes like dirt at times - tastes like resin, pine - medium to high bitterness - some caramel notes on the end - light garlic - spicy and pepper finish - meh.
