2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
I generally don’t like Genesee brews. This one has an average looking pour but a very frothy head with some lacing on the glass. Sweet and grainy nose.
Flavor is grainy, burnt caramel, and slightly sweet. But some bitter hops in the swallow. This is one of Genesees better beers, second only to their very good bock. It’s a shame their other offerings are so poor. Also, $6.49 for the Heritage 12 pack is a pretty good deal for beer in glass, and I dig the stubby bottles.

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Transfer from BA review on 11-8-12-
Poured from stubby bottle into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a nice medium golden color with a two finger white head. The head has a good level of retention, taking about 4 min to fade with it in the process leaving a medium level of lacing.
Smell – The aroma is very light and only consists of a little caramel mixed with a light bread smell.
Taste – The taste starts out with a light caramel sweetness mixed with some bready flavors. These flavors create a base for the beer which last throughout the taste, but yet change in intensity. The sweet grows stronger in the middle with caramel and some corn, but then dwindles a little bit in the end. The bready flavors remain constant throughout the taste, except at the end, where they get a little bit weaker. In the end with the sweet and bready flavors growing lighter, a crisp flavor is left on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the lighter side with a carbonation level that is a bit on the higher side. Very nice for the style and it matches the crisp flavors that are left on the tongue at the end of the taste quite well.
Overall – While not really complex, it is very easy drinking and makes for a good party session brew.

2.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Fyfe & Drum Beer is a very clear, very lively, bright, golden beer. It has a turbulent surface with no head to speak of. It smells a little sweet and a little funky. There seems to be a hint of lemon. It’s light bodied and lively in the mouth. The finish is a little chalky. There’s not too much flavor, but it’s recognizable as a Genny. The dominant flavor is that burnt-rubber yeast they use. There’s a little bitterness that comes after the swallow. There are hints of lemon and mint. Like most Genny beer, it’s not that great, but it still beats a macro at the same price. It’s best if these beers stay in their stubbies and stay cold.

Watery like a macro. A little bitterness and alcohol aftertaste. A little rough to my taste.

1.5 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20
Very pale straw yellow. Nose of corn husk and grass. Taste is simply corn. Body is watery and thin. The worst of the three from the heritage collection.

Bottle. Pours a golden straw color with a short white head. Aroma of sweet grains and corn. Flavor follows the aroma with some bitterness and had notes of grass.

Temp in the 90’s today and sweating alot. A Genny can do the trick. Light and inoffensive. Slight Genny taste at the start, then just went down like water. I have acouple others. Might try one on a cool day.

2.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: AUG 25, 2012 Light medicinal aroma, grains, golden bodied with foam that exceeded expectation. Flavor was a crisp Pale Lager that gave enough flavor to crave another sip. Best out of the stubbie ice cold or a seven ounce draft glass. I hope the old school 60’s recipe was used to create this brew.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
12 oz stubbie from the Heritage Collection. Pours a dark golden color with a small head that fades quickly with no lacing. Aroma of sweet grain and not much else. Not a bad thing. Taste of mild malt sweetness with some grain. Mild bitterness and a fairly dry finish. Light body and quite crisp. Nothing offensive. Decent beer, good for a few. Nothing fancy here.
