Keg at Brewdog, Edinburgh. Pours jet black, no head. Aromas of roasted malt, chocolate, charcoal. Big charcoal note when tasted, and very little spice. Thin and a bit flat. OK. maneliquor (3514) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - OCT 19, 2013
Keg at BD Shoreditch. Dark brown pour with little head. Nose isn’t the best but it’s not off putting or anything. Pretty standard roast with some light chilli and chocolate coming through. Taste is your typical dark ale roast with some ashy undertones and a bitey chilli finish. Very peppery. Not balanced at all. Tap at BrewDog as 48 Miles Later. It pours darkest brown, near black with a small beige head. The nose is roasty, spicy chilli, orange, lime, grapefruit and dull smoke. The taste is roasty, some acidity, chilli, vegetal notes, grapefruit, orange zest, pithy lime and wood with a dry, roasty finish. Medium body and average carbonation. Balance not really there in my opinion. So-so. Theydon_Bois (19545) - Hazlemere, the lower Xhitlerns, Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - OCT 14, 2013
Cask at Borefts ’13, 27/09/13.
Dark mahogony brown with a thin light tan head.
Nose is roast malt, dark fruits, brown sugars, vanilla, cocoa.
Taste comprises light chilli heat, cocoa, dark roast malts.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation.
Ok chilli stout, the chilli kick is pretty subtle whilst evident - a good thing in my book ! bierkoning (13355) - La Tropica/Doarp, NETHERLANDS - OCT 12, 2013
