This is a strong traditional ale with intense malt flavours and a citrus hop aroma. A very smooth beer with a well-rounded, distinctly "moreish" finish.

14th December 2010. At the Euston Tap with Harrisoni. Clear amber beer. Little white head. Smooth dry palate. Sublte toffee in the malt. Fairly bitter hop without much accompanying hop fruit. Finishes dry and bitter. Dry and bitter without much else going on - not my cup of char!

500ml bottle. Pours clear copper/ amber with an off white head. Nose is brown toast, rye, toffee, nutty, earthy and citrus. Smooth, medium carbonation, slight sticky chewy mouth feel. Taste is sweet toffee, biscuit, rye bread, earthy, slight spice, lemon and grapefruit peel and juice. Light bitterness, juicy finish. Good balance. Have loved everything iv tried from Fyne Ales !

Bottle from Beerhawk. Pours clear amber brown with thin beige head. Aromas of cinnamon boiled sweets toffee and light lemony hop. Taste has chewy treacle toffee with a mild bitter marmalade finish. It has a soft feel with a light sparkle. Earthy and warming export-like ale with a superb bitter citrus balance. Really nice traditional beer.

September 17, 2015 - at Craft (Covent Garden); handpull cask. Refractive clear burnished copper with a smallish lasting foamy beige head (4-). Aroma is decently floral, but a bit vegetal (green pepper) - not too off-putting, but out of place - Centennial? Taste is very light but smooth - moderately sweet cereal malt and a touch of grassy bitterness - virtually no alcohol - nicely balanced. Slick, lightly syrupy, mild carbonation and quick finishing - not much aftertaste, but I got a little maple somehow. As I don’t mind mildly carbonated beers, this is just fine.

From a cask at the January 2017 ACAF. Dark clear copper body. Bubbly head. Very appealing aroma dominated by toffee. More richness and complexity in the flavor. Excellent bitter-sweet balance.

500 ml bottle served cold. Toffee and wet woodland walk aroma. Amber with an off white head that faded to a thin skim. Sultanas, red berries and toffee flavour. Sweetish, medium bodied, sticky texture, soft carbonation, gentle finish. The kind of ruminative beer probably best enjoyed quietly, in a subdued, relaxed pub off the beaten track. Autumnal springs to mind.

GSAP (746) - NETHERLANDS - DEC 17, 2016
Snoeppot ruiken, sinaasappel met snoep en wat kruid proeven, beetje winters, maar wat week, wel fris. 500ml fles, koperkleurig met net van het witte kraag.

From a bottle. Good head. Honey brown colour and aroma. Some citrus bitter flavour and aftertaste.

shoestring (404) - larkhall, SCOTLAND - SEP 3, 2016
Served too cold initially. Nice looker copper and off white head. Caramel starting to come through as warming. Slight citrus edge with a slight metallic twang. May just be too cold just now . Flavours ’warmed’ as the beer itself ce to room temp

Pint Glen Nevis Bar. Average beer, quite malty, not overly hopped. Served a bit too cold in this establishment imo.

overtheline (133) - Inverness, SCOTLAND - MAY 28, 2016
500ml bottle, pours a very clear copper with off white cap. Nose is pretty weird, very fruit forward, almost peach like with underlying malt aromas. Taste is really fresh, fruity notes give way to caramel maltiness which finishes ashy and slightly bitter.low carbonation with light to medium body. Pretty tasty stuff.
