Scopey (15687) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - AUG 30, 2013
Bottle from the brewery and cask at CP&K. It pours clear amber-brown with a thick off-white head. The nose is wood, leather, earth, toast, brown bread and touch of caramel. The taste is toasty, earth, wood, leather, light bitterness, nut and caramel with a clean, dry finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. A classic, well-executed bitter.

dogbomb (1253) - ENGLAND - AUG 18, 2013
Bottle. Dark amber, like well brewed tea. Thick offwhite, light tan head. Malt smells, some tea, some caramel, some nuts. Bready and caramellic in the mouth with a nice amount of bitterness. Very "solid" drink this, with some nice warm roasty malts and bitters.

Great bitter with typical British character but with an added earthy malt depth with is encouraged with a special hoppy finish

2.6
McWorta (1633) - LUXEMBOURG - JUL 22, 2013
Amber with a bit of a tan head. Noses of hops and malts but rather unspectecular. Acidic, medium bitter, bit watery light slick texture. Finish is rather quick.

SaintMatty (7522) - Uppsala, SWEDEN - JUL 19, 2013
Cask (SRAF 2013) - Copper in colour. Caramel, raisins and roasted malt in the aroma. Fruity, roasted and chocolatey taste with caramel, nuts and hops detected.

VastActiv (7592) - Oulu/Helsinki, FINLAND - JUL 9, 2013

My Bottom Line:
Toasted and nutty caramel malts elegantly move into leafy hops and their bitterness in this balanced Brown Bitter.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam covers the clear deep amber-brown.
-Drinkability is very high.
-The flavour profile is nicely balanced.
-The conditioning here is beautifully done.
-This may not be the most compelling example of the style, but it remains very nice throughout.

On cask at Craft Beer Co., Brighton.

Cask at Old Nun’s Head- 17 June 2013. People who whine on about boring brown bitter would do well to check this out. Lovely balance between the malts and berry notes. Would have loved a 2nd pint had I not had to be somewhere else.

Quite hoppy with strong dark fruit character. Nice malt character to balance, really enjoyable session beer.
