Caramel, sweet grain and bread malts, molasses, biscuit. Clear amber, tiny, creamy, off-white head. Medium sweet. More sweet grain, molasses, biscuit, caramel, soft carbonation, medium to full bodied, more sweet grain malts in the finish. Nice Doppelbock, not quite up there with some of the German contenders. Keg at CBC, Islington.

nimbleprop (8709) - SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA - AUG 5, 2016
Sampled at Brewdog Stirling pours a murky, caramel amber with a ring of white head. Nose of raisin, date, fruit cake, dried cherry, marzipan, some caramel/toffee, light booze. Flavor is sweet with dried fruits, caramel, toffee, treacle, black currants here, some turbinado sugar. Full bodied finish but hides the booze well.

Scopey (15431) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - DEC 24, 2015
Keg at CASC. It pours opaque darkest brown with a decent tan head. The nose is rich, earthy, brown bread, raisin, burnt toast, toasty brown sugars, toffee and honeycomb. The taste is bitter, chewy malt, big warming alcohol, musty fart, spice, burnt fruit cake, salted caramel and earth with a dry, chewy finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Big, warming and chewy. Good example of the style.
