Bottle at Bruce’s, London. Thanks to Paul. Pours deep red-brown with a tight, creamy tan cap. Moderate roast in the nose, lots of milk chocolate, hints of burnt toffee. Medium sweet flavor, some well toasted bread, a bit more burnt toffee, mild earthy bitterness, subtle dried fruits. Light to medium bodied with fine, massaging carbonation. Some bitter earth to finish, dry and somewhat chalky cocoa, tame roast. Nicely balanced porter.

Light black with a moderate tan covering.
Nose is dark malts, big fruity punch, liqourice, dark toffee, light cocoa, hop presence, light smoke.
Taste comprises treacle toffee, suggestion of booze, dark sugars, toffee fudge, light roast, hoppy backnotes.
Medium bodied with bite, soft carbonation, smooth on the palate with a lick of booze in the finale.
Bottle. Pretty much black. Aroma us quite rich, almost imperial in its treacly quality. Fairly thick creamy body. Lots of chocolatey depth, dark and delicious. Not much nuance beyond that, but some good dessert beer quality. Ferris (16728) - Burnaby, British Columbia, CANADA - DEC 7, 2013

Bottle from Fyne Ales. It pours near black with a thick beige head. The nose is roasted malt, toast, salty edge, coffee, plastic, bitter chocolate and earth. The taste is rich roasted malt, coffee, earth, ash, liquorice, dark fruit, berry, burnt toast, salted caramel and treacle with a dry, roasted finish. Medium-full body and moderate carbonation. Good depth of flavour, well balanced and highly drinkable. A well-crafted brew and one of Fyne’s best.
