Bottle: Almost black, small tanned head, rural leathery nose, traces of chocolate underneath; moderate bitter-sweet flavour, medium bodied as expected; dry malt-bitter finish, dark malt and chocolate included. Not great..... Gary (2094) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUL 8, 2011
(Cask @ The Man Of Kent, Rochester). This is an attractive stout both to look at and drink . I felt lots of Black Forest Gateau like flavour. Kinda tart and with dry roast. Good construction in this. maeib (8749) - Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, ENGLAND - JUN 19, 2011
Cask conditioned handpump Criterion Leicester. A black beer with a good whitish head. Pretty delicious. The milky and malty aroma doesn’t foretell the wonderful warming oatmeally taste. Salty. A long finish. Would have liked it a degree or two cooler but there are some lovely flavours in this. wheresthepath (2424) - Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - MAY 27, 2011
[330ml bottle from The Bottleneck, Broadstairs] Deep ruby-black with a moderate tan head. There’s a slight fizz but a smooth, rich, creamy mouthfeel. Plain chcolate dominates at first, followed up by a strong (but not too burnt) roastiness. Port, liquorice and blackberries develop, and there’s a spicy kick in the finish. An interesting and complex stout that’s a delight to drink. Nice one! Koelschtrinker (22074) - Köln (Cologne), GERMANY - MAY 8, 2011
Sehr weicher und überaus milder Malzantrunk, etwas süß. Süffig, weiterhin sehr weich, selbst die aufkommende Bitterkeit ist mild. Cremig, interessant. Danke an DerDoppelbock für das Bier! 10/9/10/10/10/10

Gravi-cask at the Planet Thanet beer festival. It pours near black with ruby highlights and a thin foamy tan head. The nose is sweet caramel, toffee, sesame seed, soy, seaweed and some dark fruit. The taste is toffee, sea salt, cherry, charcoal, wood, grass, toast, varnish, filter coffee and cardboard, with a long-bitter finish. Interesting, but overall it’s too unbalanced to enjoy. planky84 (3493) - Lee, Greater London, ENGLAND - APR 24, 2011
Bottle from Mr Lawrence Wine Merchants, Brockley. Black pour with a tan head. Chocolate, dark fruit and raisin aromas. Quite earthy. Chocolate, caramel and coffee flavours. Quite sweet. Coffee in the finish .Tasty. suprchunk (2994) - EffOff, Florida, USA - APR 21, 2011
Pours black. Tan head. No lacing. Little bit of malt. Little metallic. Some sugar and some roasted barley. A sweet/sour taste that contradicts itself constantly.
Not bad. A mo’ bitter flavor. More from the roasted grains than anything else. Sweet front with a bitter back. Almost like an almond coffee. No too bad. I would definitely pick up more.
If it weren’t for the 5 pound price tag. cgarvieuk (26365) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - FEB 14, 2011
