Bottle from Coppers, Newcastle. Very dark brown-black in colour with a thin tan head. It has rich dark chocolate, liquorice, plum and malty flavours followed by an oak and bitter hoppy finish.

13/XII/14 - sample @ Dijleschuimers Bierproeffestival (Kessel-Lo) - BB: n/a (2014-1498) Thanks to the Antwerp Zythos crew and others for sharing beers at the table!

Clear dark purple brown beer, creamy beige head, pretty stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: hay, stable, malty, cow fodder, some caramel. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: bitter start, roasted, dark caramel, little sweet, pretty hoppy. Aftertaste: dark chocolate, cocoa powder, hop bitterness.

Cask at The Merchants Inn, Rugby. Poured a dark brown almost black with a nice tan head. Smokey chocolate and cocoa, but not a distant flavoursome finish. Good Stuff though.

Bottle at home shared with mates at Christmas dinner. Aroma is powdered choc, dark dried fruits, cranberry, malty. Clear brown coloured pour with a thin cream head. Flavour is bitter dark malt, powdered chic, nutty, long lingering bitter roast. Moderate to high carbonation. OK.

Bottle. Beer Central, Sheffield. Clear, dark copper colour. Messy, thin, sticky, off white head. Light smoke. Bit of bonfire toffee. Light chocolate malts. Taste is dry, and light bitter. Palate is a little watery. Finishes ashy dry, and light, fruity bitter.
