The laws protecting the brewing of kolsch are as strict as the German Purity Law of 1516. Kolsch beer can only be brewed within the city of Cologne. As the best-known kolsch brewery, Gaffel’s flavor is derived from an ale yeast that is "lagered" (or aged) in cold cellars. Gaffel is pale, faintly fruity with a crisp, hop finish. Enjoy as an aperitif or digestif.

Ritzn (1311) - GERMANY - NOV 14, 2016
Clear golden with almost no head. Aroma is wheat, some fruity like malts (no real fruit aroma though), noble hops and something unpleasant that resembles cigarette smoke. Taste is somehow artificial malty sweetness, with lots of slightly aggressive sourness and some bitter bitterness. Easy to drink, medium finish. Meh...

adamnowek (2644) - Brussels, BELGIUM - NOV 10, 2016
Wheaty aroma with a bit of wet grass. Taste is moderately spicy with a subtle sourness. Nothing special but it does the trick for a platform beer at Köln Hbf.

Grumpelmies (318) - North Rhine-Westphalia, GERMANY - NOV 6, 2016
Bottle. Dark yellow. Aroma and taste are earthy, malty grainy and rather dull. Hops are very subdued. High carbonation. A mediocre Kölsch that I only drink when there are no other options.

Antzrhere (181) - Blackpool, Lancashire, ENGLAND - OCT 26, 2016
Pours yellow, white head. Faint aroma of yeast esters and spicey hops. Crisp taste with bread and tangy hop after taste. Ok, but not great

villevav (462) - FINLAND - OCT 16, 2016
[2010-05-11] Vaalean kultainen ja kirkas. Kuiva ja humaloitu. Erittäin miellytttävä janojuoma.

kryon (3503) - Hässelby, SWEDEN - OCT 14, 2016
Pours clear yellow with low white head Aromas crisp, bready, minerals, herbal, slight citrusy, malty Taste has malty notes, crisp bread, herbs, flowery minerals, hints of salt

For the style this beer is great, clean taste and bitter. Wouldn’t go out of my way to buy though

Blueshawk (465) - Bad Bellingen, GERMANY - OCT 3, 2016

GregClow (3402) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 2, 2016
Can from the LCBO. Clear, bright yellow-gold with a snow white head. Fresh and clean aroma of bread, cut grass, a touch of honey, and classic noble hops. Flavour follows, with light malt and honey sweetness to start, and lively hops coming on quickly for a crisp and moderately bitter finish. I’ve had this in bottles several times before, and it came across as a fairly generic and limp lager, but from a fairly fresh can, it’s a standard bearer for its style.

SinH4 (4709) - Garching b. München, GERMANY - SEP 30, 2016
Bottle (no idea why I’ve never rated it). Clear golden, white head. Aroma is sweet malts, some noble hops. Taste is more sweet malts, some cardboard. Needs to be revisited fresh.
