The laws protecting the brewing of kolsch are as strict as the German Purity Law of 1516. Kolsch beer can only be brewed within the city of Cologne. As the best-known kolsch brewery, Gaffel’s flavor is derived from an ale yeast that is "lagered" (or aged) in cold cellars. Gaffel is pale, faintly fruity with a crisp, hop finish. Enjoy as an aperitif or digestif.

I just don’t know if we could move 350 hl in a short enough time to make it work. It might be possible, in fact, but I just don’t know, and I don’t even know how we could find out.

Mooi helder goudgeel bier, fijne witte parelende schuimkraag.

20-05-17 // on tap at Rhein-Stadion Cologne. Clear golden, small white head. Classic watery Kölsch with grainy, straw aroma.

Aroma of sweet malt, wheat and slight banana. Pours pale golden with a thick and creamy white head. The taste is bitter and wheaty. Nice amount of subtle citrusy/piney hops. Smooth wheaty mouthfeel, medium to high carbonation.

Sampled together with Dr; Beer. Blind tasting in black glassware. smell is heavy, thick, banana esthers, wheat, mild bitter notes. Taste is full, sweet, typical german, yeasty, banana esthers, mild bitterness. Wheat, both in mf and taste. Decnet bitterness that cleans up towards the aftertaste. Rather high carbonation. Leaves the pallet rather dry, bit minerally as well as some banana. Def german.

several 0.2 draught @ Gaffel am Dom, Cologne (April 22, 2017). Apperance is as defined by Kölsch Konvention - golden, clear and big head. This is less fruity and more hoppy than the the competitors. Very good for a session beer and quite easy.

I bought this bottle in one German shop in Paris, Porte Saint-Martin. I drank tonight after a long trip from Italy. This bottle had a limit in june 2017. The body is yellow and gold, thin head, regular balance. The taste is classical, I could say that it is a lager with a better quality. The taste is malty, bready, fruity at the final, metalic side, a bit watery but there is a side of dryness at the beginning, not bad.
