4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
From a 640ml bottle. Pours a cloudy brown, thin off white head, rich chocolate aroma, smooth with rich flavours of caramel and a mild hops bitterness. This is a very, very good beer that I will gladly drink again.

taste : chocolate, lively carbonation , medium to low sweetness. texture is thin.. defiantly some roasty malt in there. Beer is well filtered and dark amber in appearance. it rounds off quite crisp. head didnt last 3 seconds.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Copper pour with a half inch beige head. Very pronounced chocolate smell, a little sickly sweet. Taste is vanilla and a bit sickly, milky chocolate, which is unfortunate because the chocolate they’ve used is good quality.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle 640ml BB 1/2/14. Poured a translucent coppery colour with a two- to three-finger off white foamy heads that retained OK then dropped to a bubble ring. Laced poorly. Medium carbonation as seen by medium sized bubbles forming trails. Aroma of nice sweet dark chocolate that lasts. Taste of pleasant sweet dark chocolate and underlying sweet vanilla. Medium body. Smooth with a lingering chocolate finish but overall a bit too sweet.

2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Picked up on the cheap at BWS (which tends to overcharge for mainstream 33cl singles, yet more unusual Aussie craft beers are often available at a comparatively very good price) into my Belgians, but not expecting too much from this; then again - lost abbey's tripel wasn't too bad so I felt this was worth a go as the only 'quality' dark beer in the shop.
Appearance: 1-finger or less of head, hazel brown colour. No residual lacing whatsoever.
Aroma: some cheap chocolate, a bit of nut and spice too. Probably it's least-worse quality.
Taste: sweet upfront, quite boozy and a touch of lingering chocolate at the end. Unpleasant bitterness. The flavour doesn't really follow the aroma particularly well.
Mouthfeel: not too pleasant, medium carbonation, yet there's a lack of lingering character that washes away what taste there is. Not dubbel-worthy.
I wanted to like this and I really appreciate that the brewer is trying to mix things up out here. One day someone will get it right; fair play for trying, but anyone willing to try this most likely already knows what real Belgians taste like.
