(bottle) Beer upon opening smelled unexpectedly hoppy. Poured a beautiful bright amber copper. Head did not last. Perfectly carbed for a bitter. I really enjoyed this beer, it was extremely smooth and had some sweet yet aromatic flavours. Not much bitterness for a bitter, but I loved it. foles (45) - AUSTRALIA - OCT 6, 2012
Probably the best English beer brewed in Australia. Classic EKG character on the nose and palate, sessionable & tasty. A 640ml bottle is a real bonus.

Bottle from Dan Murphy’s. Malty and fruity. Aromas of caramel, nuts, and peach. Taste is sweet, with average length. Palate is oily, and medium bodied. Amber, with no head. Maris (1625) - Canberra, AUSTRALIA - SEP 15, 2012
From a 640ml bottle on 16/9/2012. Pours a dark copper with close to nil head. Has a moderate sweet caramel malt aroma. Flavour wise, this is very malty, with more caramel, toffee and brown sugar in the mix, with some subtly spicy hops. The body is light to medium and the carbonation average. This is actually a good Aussie crack at an English bitter, and would be terrific for a session at 4.4%. Quite under-rated on here imo. mkel07 (6569) - Brisbane, AUSTRALIA - JUN 8, 2009
330ml bottle. Dark amber and copperry colour withy a thin off white head of small bubbles that cling to the edge of the glass. Aroma of hops and cinnamon. Mild bitterness with a touch of sweetness, medium body.

640ml bottle into pint glass. Pour is translucent amber- brown with a small off-white head. Aroma is mainly caramel mats with floral hops and a touch of citrus fruitiness. Tongue is bittersweet with a decent English-style hop presence. Light-medium body with a low carbonation and easy sessionability like a good English ale. Less sweet than Burleigh Brewing’s My Wife’s Bitter which this is obviously trying to replicate. madquacker (1176) - Canberra ACT, AUSTRALIA - OCT 19, 2007
A nice murky red colour with a frothy head. Nice deep aroma. Abit Little creatureseque in the palate, but a bit blunter and softer. A very nice drop. bozoNZ (784) - Christchurch, NEW ZEALAND - OCT 27, 2008
330ml bottle. b/b 15/08/08. despite being 2 mths past it date (wonder if it’s a misprint) this is ok. Pours a good rich orange/amber. Nice hop aroma though the best I can describe it as dusty suitcases. Nutty malt flavours with the carbonation on the hgher end but nice lingering earthy bitter finish. Not as way off the mark style wise as other raters have mentioned - I’d be quite happy with a pint of this down Rovers Jado (805) - Camp Hill, AUSTRALIA - AUG 28, 2012
Dark copper body topped with a thin ring of foam. Grain and a light hop aroma. Taste is malt, dark bread and a little caramel, overlaid with a mild hop zestiness. Finishes dry with a fairly short palate. Body is pretty thin especially for a beer that’s marketed as an ESB, but not bad overall.
