This deep red ale deftly balances rich malt flavours of toast and toffee with subtle spicy hop aromas and a cleansing bitterness. One of our original brews, this beer makes a great introduction to the enticing flavours of craft beer and is also very versatile for pairing with food.

Pint poured at deckhouse in summerside. Pours red with a beige head. Smells and tastes like malt with a very very slightly bitter finish. Decent. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours very cloudy brownish-red. Has almost a hazy flavour to it as well, cardboard-like oxidation is present as well. Bottle at lake. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Appearance: Not what i was expecting. Dense dark brown body that looks like apple cider with barely a thin ring of foam that slowly dissipates to nothing. Yeah, a minute in and i’m looking at no foam and no lacing. Looks flat to be honest. Smell: Mild hops with some sweetness but not much else. Slightly better but alas it was not meant too be because the... Taste: is awful. Sour permeates the mouth then slowly fades probably because i’m getting used to it. It tastes like it’s gone bad but it’s only about 2 months old. Not good at all. Mouthfeel: Not much better. Tastes almost flat with little to no carbonation. Reviewed on: 08-27-2009

Aroma is deep sugar, honey, caramel and clove. Taste is rich sweet malts with your typical caramel and honey. Slight bittering on the tip. Traditional beer, nothing special here. Appearance is a dark brown with a thin pearl head that retains fairly.

berkshirejohn (6588) - Bracknell, Berkshire, ENGLAND - OCT 4, 2016
50cl bottle at the Hotel on Pownal, Charlottetown, PEI. A reddish copper pour with a loose cream head; rich malty taste with some mollasses, but not too sweet. A really pleasant red ale.

Draft at the brewery. Clear red body, small white head. The aroma has malt, some spices. The taste is spicy, with a pleasant roasted finish.

minutemat (5816) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - AUG 7, 2016
500ml bottle shared with blackhaddock in his man cave. Many thanks to Duffman for this. Pours deep amber with a good tan head. Aroma is caramel, soft grainy malts. Taste is smooth caramel, hints of roast and spice. Essentially a nice uncomplicated easy-drinking smooth amber.

BlackHaddock (7518) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - AUG 5, 2016
500ml bottle, shared with minutemat on 5th Aug 2016. A decent beige head sat on top of the red/mahogany bodied beer. Malts rule the roost here, lightly roasted/toasted in the aroma, sweet notes from the molasses in the taste, tempered with some mild hop bitterness in the finish.

chinchill (5183) - South Carolina, USA - JUN 8, 2016
On tap at the Halifax Gahan pub. Clear dark mahogany body with a fine head. Good malty aroma with a bit more roasted grain flavor than the aroma suggests. Slightly bitter. Very nice.
