One of our original brands, this crisp flavourful wheat beer has been a spring board for many craft beer love affairs over the years. We add a special blend of Canadian barley and wheat malts for brisk clean flavour, spicy hops for balance, and bucket loads of local honey for its lovely floral aroma. John A’s Honey Wheat is an easy drinking light ale with great thirst quenching qualities.

Well water notes with hint of calcium and metal mark this tepid honey wheat ale peed from the oldest, sickest, male member of an interbred family.

Appearance: Pours a light, slightly hazy golden body with a bit of carbonation racing in there (phew!). But again same story. Thin ring literally disappears in seconds and leaves nothing behind! Even worse that the Island Red (if that’s possible!). Not good and i dread what’s coming. Smell: Ok, not bad. Some grass (and wheat maybe?) with a mild bitterness and some grain. I think i’m being generous on this score only because i expected worse and was surprised. Taste: Very hard to grasp on the flavors. A bit of sweetness and an aftertaste of honey but not much else. At least there are no off flavors but not terribly interesting. Again, i feel i’m being to kind on this score but it exceeds my expectations (which were by this point pretty low). Very drinkable, slight wet hay. Good use of the honey on the finish. Not a whole lot going on, but good enough.

On tap at Sims. Pours a clear gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has sweet wheat and a good amount of honey supporting. Flavor combines sweet wheat and honey well but is a bit thin and sweet.

50cl bottle at the Hotel on Pownal, Charlottetown, PEI. A slightly hazy pale amber pour with a white head; grainy aroma with some honey; rather musty honey taste with a grainy body. Disappointing when compared to other beers I tried from this brewery.

Tranquillity (2339) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 9, 2016
Draft at a chez Yvonne in PEI. Clear honey colored body, big white head. The aroma is malty, with fruit. The taste is fresh and sweet with molasses.

Bierdimpfe (640) - Quebec, CANADA - FEB 6, 2016
Clear veiled golden color going for amber. Creamy and foamy beige 2 finger head lasting around 4 minutes. Average legs with low activity. Aromas and flavors of smoky corn, grains, citrus, herbal spices and faint honey. Well balanced flavors and intensity with some nice crispy sharpness and authentic sweetness (not just pure sugar). Slick full body with pleasant carbonation. Short clean finish but well intensified, ending with a pleasant slightly bitter smoky corn and honey sweetness feel on the tongue. Overall : Fresh, flavorful with a great wheat feel, good craft and very accessible. What adjunct lagers *should* taste like.

exeter (535) - calgary, Alberta, CANADA - OCT 10, 2015
Pours a light straw colour with a light fluffy head, no lacing. Tastes of bready malt, citrus, grain and, of course honey. A little boring ,

Alpha10 (758) - Ontario, CANADA - SEP 21, 2015
2015/09/22 - Pours a clear golden straw colour with a soapy, white head that quickly reduces and leaves minimal lacing. Aroma is dough, wheat, cereal, a hint of citrus and light caramel malt. Taste follows nose; cereal, bread, light lemon/lime and a hint of caramel. Mouthfeel is medium with slightly sharp carbonation and a crisp finish. Pretty bland. Don't think that I will revisit this. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Triste.
