A mild ale - its as black as stout. Nice aroma, with a balance of subtle hops, bready yeast, dried fruit and roasted malt - spicy, vanilla, cooked apples, etc. Creamy tan head, slowly subsiding, leaving a 1/8 inch ring. Flavor is more subdued with some sourness, pronounced yeast character, coffee-like dark malt, and some earthiness. Finish is a little bitter, a little dry. Could have a richer flavor but decent, with excellent aroma.
Cask. Deep ruby red. Strong mild. Good roasty malts. Fruity, dark fruits, raisins. Rich sweet and lasting. Very drinkable. Enjoyed this. Lovely Mild. (2008)

Medium carbonation, great dry mouthfeel. Flavour has lovely dark chocolate, fine dryness, liqourice, quite malty and full-feeling. Great grainy, malty bitterness and dryness in the finish. Lovely.
