From bottle at Freakin’ Frog. Opaque black with dark tan head. Potent molasses aroma with hints of smoke and tobacco. Taste is smoke, jerky, molasses, plum, and peat. Light mouthfeel with a good smoked finish. brokensail (16633) - Dublin, California, USA - APR 18, 2014
Bottle @ home, final Secret Krampus courtesy toss. Just about black in color with a tan head. Smells of prunes and licorice. Roasted malt, coffee grounds, and toasted bread. Flavor is fairly sweet with a bunch of prune and toasted bread. Bitterness of roasted malt and coffee. A touch of chocolate, some licorice, ash, and earthy hops. Meh. A- Roasty, bread, chocolate, espresso.
A- Black color, dark liquid, tan head.
T- Coffee, cocoa, toasty, balanced.
P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, smooth finish.
O- Despite the ridiculous cheesy label which almost kept me from trying this, I was very impressed with this beer. The flavors stand out well enough and it actually has something going for it. This could rival a lot of black lagers on the same tier as this no problem.

12 oz. bottle, consumed on 11-1-12. Aroma features chocolate, muffin, toffee, butterscotch, and caramel scents. Also fruity (peach). That may sound good, but there’s a cheapness to the smell. Pours an apparently clear, dark brown with a reddish hue and a moderate amount of uneven, taupe head. Bitter, sugary taste; coffee with sugar substitute. Crisp and frothy in the palate. Light to medium body. Easy to drink. Not a standout beer. wlajwl (7006) - Quad Cities, Iowa, USA - JUL 5, 2012
Aroma is dark malts and mild nuttiness. The flavor is coffee, chocolate, malts and a mild acidity/tartness in the finish. BVery (11209) - Plymouth, Minnesota, USA - JUN 10, 2012
Bottle. Extremely dark brown to black pour with a cream-colored head. Nose and taste were roasted malts, some bittersweet chocolate, and a bit of dry bitterness late. Decent brew. dwyerpg (6365) - Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - JUN 6, 2012
UPDATED: JUN 8, 2012 As black as brown can get but a thinnish head. Definitely has some body and heft to it, but a good solid flavor with mix of roast and coffee and chocolate. Another pretty solid beer. These beers labels look like they spent all their time on the labeling, but thankfully all 4 of the beers I’ve had have been pretty solid. However, each successive beer of this one seems a bit heavier and worse. Ughsmash (7508) - Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA - JUN 4, 2012
Bottled. Poured deep brown with a dark tan head. The aroma picked up sweet and lightly-sour, toasted black malts and sweeter chocolate.. a touch of vanilla around the nose.. the sourness seemed out of place. The flavor found almost exactly the same stuff.. soured black malt on the tip of the tongue, with toasty black malts, chocolate, and a touch of caramel at the core.. vanilla bean at times.. finished lightly sour and grainy. Light-medium bodied with moderate carbonation on the palate.. didn’t seem right.
