Nose is chocolate, flavor is very dark chocolate, dark roasted coffee, cocoa. Light to medium sweet, heavy roasty bitter. Finish is long lasting roasty bitter, tons of dark chocolate, alcohol is well covered. Full body, thin texture, nearly flat carbonation. Excellent chocolate dessert beer, easy and very tasty. 3fourths (9347) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - JUN 15, 2013
UPDATED: AUG 18, 2014 Draft at the Zoiglstube and again at Fränkisches Bierfest in Nürnberg.fonefan (49399) - VestJylland, DENMARK - SEP 7, 2013
First go: Lightly fruity, somewhat musty, green, raw hop aroma. Cocoa / chocolate. Rich mouthfeel, explosive carbonation and bitterness and hop acids in the finish. Very fragrant but also more muddled / yeasty than the keg pours a week later.
Second go: Amazingly fruity / grapefruit American hop nose. Rich cocoa and chocolate malt and roast, a lot of enticing dark caramel malt sugars. Cleanly fermented. Roast is earthy bitter baking chocolate. Dangerously drinkable alcohol. Glorious. Something like a strong Black IPA crossed with a doppelbock, and more American in character than German.
12oz bottle at Andy’s brewery, August 2014. Approximately 18 months old. Short tan colored head on a dark chestnut brown body.
It has lost the bright hop nose given by the intense dry-hopping, and the luscious chocolate and roast-focused malt has taken over the aroma. Creamy, silky body. Sweet balanced enough by bitterness. It’s certainly more chocolate focused and malt driven than the fresh keg that was server at the 2013 Nuremberg Bierfest, and overall it’s a totally different experience, but still a positive one. 7/3/7/4/15, 3.6

Bottle. Coffe, chocolate, vinousity and vanilla notes in aroma. Tastes the same with a low roastiness and bitterness. Pretty sweet. Crazy soft and light mouthfeel! Beerconnaiseur (166) - BELGIUM - MAR 2, 2015
What a full and layered array of aromas! Draf, wort, grass, dark cane sugar, melasse, candi. Soft mouthfeel with at start the alpha acids kicking in some bitterness, slowly shifting to a malty taste and subtle aftertaste of hops and herbal flavours. The hops go from a subtle smell to an interesting taste. This baltic porter is a bit watery, which makes it very drinkable. It’s different + has has a stunning nose - even some pepper after some sniffs. Lovely! Nische (2240) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - SEP 21, 2015
Bottle from Kaapse. Pours clear dark with a tanned head. Aroma is sweetish with malt, liquorice, wood and roasted malt. Very rich flavor with similar notes. This one has aged beautifully. Christian (13670) - Odense, DENMARK - JUL 23, 2013
Near blackwith a big, tan head. Malty aroma with caramel and licorice, along with herbal and citrus hops. Sweetish malty flavour of licorice.Citrus and herbal hops, at a level where the flavour resembles a black IPA. klm1 (1538) - Bled/SF, - MAY 15, 2015
UPDATED: JUL 23, 2015 Dark brown colour with almost no light brown head. Aroma of roasted barley malts, oak, and other woody notes. Taste is firstly caramel sweet, with evident alcohol note, which immediately disappear. Finish is bitter/sweet, and at the same time you can detect, that this beer have a high IBU. But the question is, which hops did they used? Anyway: Full body. very gentle, soft carbonation, medium bitterness. Cane sugar sweet - hoppy aftertaste with woody (oak bourbon) notes. Very interseting, complex beer.
