I made this assessment based upon a measure poured off tap from Cassel’s. I waited for it to warm up from the over-cold gas pour and saw that it was black with ruby notes in the dimple of the glass. Aromas came forth of raisin and plum sauce, inedible cherry but still it was too cold. I tasted (said Hemmingway), it was cold and it was like Renaissance Elemental Porter, a beer I LOVE. It had the berry and plum with touches of coffee, red plums and coffee. An understated stout but immediately drinkable until you get to the point where you can’t drive, can’t speak properly and can’t engage third gear on your legs. My best advice is to lower the alcohol. Please?
Bottle at a tasting. Quite overcarbonated, but otherwise a fine stout, even though not the most soft nor compex nor delicious one. Classic roast character is present, with no considerable off notes. Pours black with tan head. First impression from the aroma is smoke. The smoke gives way to chocolate and coffee flavours. The taste is slightly more bitter than ideal.

From a 330ml bottle on 22/1/2017 (shared with Butz). Pours close to black with a small head. The nose is mild, sweet chocolate with a hint of roasted malt. Tatse wise, there’s ore chocolate (dark), a bit of dark. tangy fruit, and a firm roasty bitterness. Fullish body with moderate to average carbonation. A very enjoyable, tasty stout. Pours hazy brown with a small tan head. Aroma is toasted malty and caramelish. Toasted malty and caramelish. Toasted malty into the finish. Smooth roasted and metallic to smoked malty. Bitter and dry roasted finish.

Can courtesy of Jo Schmo. Pours just like Guiness - black, with a big persistent creamy/tan head. Nose is dry, bitter, roasty malt, quite intense. Pours black color with a large beige head. Aroma is ashy and dry malty, cocoa and coffee notes. Flavor is chocolate and rye, dark roasted malts, coffee bitterness, cocoa. Fluffy palate, dry finish. Good.
