Restrained boozy aroma in a deep reddish brown black pour. Hop forward balance to start with a complex body of dried stone fruit, cocoa, vanilla, and licorice before a warming finish with subtle tastes of bourbon and rum. jredmond (8787) - New York, New York, USA - APR 21, 2016
Bottle shared at the RLGK tasting, March 2016. Pours a deep murky brown body with thick tan lacing. Nose is deep, rich oak, chocolate and soft dust. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with notes of oak, sugar and rich chocolate. Great porter. rlgk (18844) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - MAR 30, 2016
Bottle at the jredmond tasting in NYC 160326. Opaque black beer with a nice beige/brownish head. Great bourbon and vanilla aroma, milk chocolate, cocoa powder, licorice notes, figs, some wood. Bourbon and vanilla flavor, figs, woody, warming alcohol, some chocolate and cocoa powder. Full bodied and very tasty. Travlr (26287) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - DEC 6, 2014
Bottle from the source, shared at RBWG Asheville. Dark clear brown color, tan head. Aroma of vanilla, dark coffee. Taste is roasty cocoa, vanilla, light bourbon. Tasty. Rangi (671) - NEW ZEALAND - AUG 14, 2014
Very tasty full flavoured porter. Aroma of Bourban, vanilla and slight smoke. Bourban aroma and flavour dominates the beverage but in a very pleasant manner. Thin taste not as thick as I was expecting or may be hoping for. Nice warming beverage. Was very nice after a night duty and with a bacon sandwhich.

Best beer ever. This is a spectacular, well-rounded, full-bodied, porter that delivers a gentlemanly punch.

Bottle from Mane Liquor. Pours dark brown with a small beige head which quickly disappears. Nose is full of bourbon notes - mild spice and coconut is very forward with light chocolate biscuit and moderate dark fruits. Quite raisin driven with plenty of coconut and light biscuit. Spice comes in and out and helps it finish with a real earthiness throughout. Unique at points but not overly balanced and finishes a little thin. Hides the booze well though. Hit and miss but solid for the most part Theis (15151) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - APR 17, 2014
Bottle at TimE’s Tasting. Dark dark brown - offwhite head. Sweetness. Licorice. Roasted. Bourbon. Dried fruits. Raisins. Vanilla. Coconut. Boozy. Ryebread. A bit unbalanced. jinroh (2377) - ESTONIA - MAR 27, 2014
This one has some roast, some fruits and a bite of alcohol also. Bitter honey. Feels sticky and sweet - but accompanied with fresh hop bitterness. Bourbon barrel feel comes out as well. Long, warming bourbon aftertaste. I like it. jonno (2981) - JAPAN - MAR 27, 2014
Rather enjoyable just needs a more fleshed out body to hang the flavour off. A bit too smooth for such a big beer - I want to get the full visual, visceral emotive performance, not just voluminously sucking back on rocket fuel. It’s almost too dainty for a 10% beer from a Barrel.
