The arrival of hops to the brewing scene in England in the 1500’s led to a moral panic. Hops were condemned as a “wicked and pernicious weed”, one which would lead to the erosion of social and moral standards. Thank goodness they were right. Here’s hoping that our homage to the original pernicious weed continues this gradual decline. Organic Rakau and whole cone Nelson Sauvin go head to head in this strong, golden, hoppy brew. Bitter, yes. Intensely hoppy, absolutely. Too much, never.

Tap at Siren, Rainbow 7 Launch, 17th September 16. Pours an straw yellow, clear. Aroma is grapefruit, pith, dank, tropical. Taste is clean, full on hops, grapefruit, dank bitter hops. Really drinkable.

Interesting. Reading the label, I expected a real skunky aroma. Instead it is a subdued grapefruit aroma. Flavor is big on citrus, more of that grapefruit, ruby, and a massive long bitter finish. Contains the 8%abv with ease.

TEJA (3434) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - AUG 16, 2016
Sampled at the Garage project master class at SBWF 2015. Small lingering white head. Clear yellow color. The most intense hop aroma I think I tried. Sweet light caramel to balance the big hop taste. A fie bitterness in the end to balance everything out.

Can from a sampler pack i bought at systembolaget (0,33l) - Caramel and orangepeel. Oranges, starfruit and a hint of elderflower. Quite dank.

arsol (1347) - NORWAY - JUL 21, 2016
Gylllen brun farge med lys beige skum. Lukter av humle, krydder og grape. Smaker litt fruktig og noe salt. Medium fylde og medium med kullsyre. Noe bitter avslutning.

On tap at Cafe Sara, april 14th 2016. Orange hazy body with a white head. Aroma is piney with fruit candy and wet tarmac. Taste is grassy and bitter, with a high caramel presence, covering a fruity mango and grapefruit note. Strong bitterness with a continuing grassiness finishes the beer.

Gillade verkligen denna. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

SvanteL (651) - SWEDEN - JUL 12, 2016

Gillas! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

nosajhongkong (102) - North Point, HONG KONG - JUL 11, 2016
UPDATED: AUG 27, 2016 0,33L can bought at the Bottle Shop Hong Kong. Appearance: Pours a hazy orange to golden colour with thin to medium white head. Aroma: Floral aroma of grapefruit and some tropical fruits from Nelson Sauvin hops. Aroma of stone fruit, resin, pine, apricot and citrus from Rakau hops. Taste: Citric and piney flavour with medium to high bitterness. The bitterness is quite sharp and the intensity increases by time. Also with some really subtle malt sweetness. Palate: Medium to full body. The carbonation is quite high, with some prickly and sticky texture. Long-lasting, bitter finish with citrus and piney aftertaste. Overall: An intense and hoppy IPA. The two kiwi hops, Nelson Sauvin and Rakau, have demonstrated different hops characters, yet they match with each other perfectly. Enjoy this IPA while admire the drawing of the "pernicious weed" on the can !
