The arrival of hops to the brewing scene in England in the 1500’s led to a moral panic. Hops were condemned as a “wicked and pernicious weed”, one which would lead to the erosion of social and moral standards. Thank goodness they were right. Here’s hoping that our homage to the original pernicious weed continues this gradual decline. Organic Rakau and whole cone Nelson Sauvin go head to head in this strong, golden, hoppy brew. Bitter, yes. Intensely hoppy, absolutely. Too much, never.

Bottle. Great hop bitterness and aroma. I tasted more of the riwaka than the NS hops. Sweet citrus and pineapple flavours that linger pleasantly. Very good. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bomber shared by Marcus. Pours dark gold with a fizzy white head. Aroma is semi-dank and prunus fruits with white wine. Strong hop aroma. Med + body. Strong hop flavor - dark green stuff and it’s astringent. Dry. Arguably earthy. Bitter too. Very. Could be a preservative. Super tasty.

marcus (10138) - Sacramento, California, USA - JUN 19, 2017
Bottle from Final Gravity. Pours golden with a modest off-white head and a very hoppy aroma. There is a full-bodied pale malt flavor with a very bitter dry finish.

hitko (15) - SLOVENIA - JUN 15, 2017
Pours hazzy orange, with minimal head (which pops quickly). Aroma of fruits and grass, some traces of hay. Nicely bitter, and slightly sweet & sour. Pretty thin & fizzy, with decent finish. Despite having 8%, it’s excellent & refreshing, even on a hot summer day.

allmyvinyl (10480) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - JUN 10, 2017
Bottle at work, thanks to Craig for bringing this back from NZ. Aromas of resinous and spiced orange, dank tropical fruit. Taste is light sweet, big hop bitterness, light booze note. Clean finish.

gyllenbock (9096) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - MAY 29, 2017
Can at Sorbon. Hazy orange with a white head. Sweet with hops, grapefruit, caramel, light mango and grass. The body was medium and the finish quite bitter. Not a bad one but a bit old.

nazzty (1376) - Ödåkra - Helsingborg, SWEDEN - MAY 28, 2017
Strong, hoppy and powerful. Prepare for an explosion of flavors. The rating would’ve been better if they managed to balance up for all those flavors.

Pours yellow-orange, surprisingly light colour. Medium head with good retention. Aroma is very nice; Citrus, Pine, Orange. Slight alcohol. Taste; malt-profile is very light, which accenuate the hops. It is a perfect plan, and works well. Bitterness balanced backdrop of the fruity (citrus, grape) flavour. This is a delicious brew. One of the best DIPAs I’ve had. 8% ? cannot believe it.

fellebag (1466) - Oslo, NORWAY - MAY 13, 2017
65cl bottle. Medium head settling smaller. Cloudy orange color. Aroma is grass, raspberries, hint of meat, weed, candy, flowers. Taste is bitter of grapefruit.

erickok (6034) - Leuven, BELGIUM - APR 29, 2017
Spicy, golden malts hot, English fermentation. Medium bitter, spicy, nice and dry, but enough body. Just a bit short on aftertaste for this abv and spice level. Nice brew! (33cl can at Brew Dog Malmö)

Zymurgeist2 (2179) - Redwood City, California, USA - APR 2, 2017
Tap at Ale Arsenal. Sweet and a bit cloying. Golden-copper with a full white head. Aroma and flavor both included honey. Not too dank for the name.
