COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Venusian Pale Ale, a precocious little number using some of the more unusual local flora and fauna you find hanging around here in the less civilized parts of the solar system. Lemon grass, kaffir lime leaf and grapefruit peel that we pinched from rations, meld seamlessly with Venusian Spear Fungus and that funny green stuff the local chappies seem to like licking off the rocks. Zesty is the word that springs to mind and at 7.3% abv it’s bloody good for morale. Incidentally, it works just like napalm on the natives, which is handy.

UPDATED: NOV 13, 2017 Purchased at Gerrard’s Market, Venusian Pale Ale is an ale brewed with lemongrass, lime, and coriander. The air yields grapefruit and lemon as you drink. The taste and feel of pine is sensed from beginning to end. An alcohol content of 7.5% is light and detectable in the finish. The flavor of grapefruit peel is immediate. Lemongrass accompanies the grapefruit and plays a unique complexion with the two together. Kaffir lime leaf is dominant with the body of the beer. The water quality brings out the lime character. Coriander is overcome by the citrus bite, but it’s noted in the finish upon the mouthfeel. Venusian Pale Ale (VPA) is an out of this world experience. The combination of grapefruit, lemongrass, and kaffir lime leaf blend together well. The finish is dry and lightly bitter and captures the grapefruit and lemongrass flavors. A product from Garage Project out of Wellington, New Zealand, this beer offers a new beer to behold. Delicious and refreshing, the beer will leave you wanting more, especially with the lime taste. Cheers. Prost. Drink for the love of beer. For more beer reviews, visit my blog “Drink For the Love of Beer.”

7.5%ABV. IPA. Poured out deep gold. 10SRM. Nose has fresh pine and citrus peel with fresh yellow orange being most obvious. Nose develops some malty funk as it warms which is reminiscent of dried pee. Mouthfeel is soapy. Palate has nice toasted biscuit, wheat toast, barley bread flavors; not sweet but with a pleasant starchy fullness of toasted grain. Hop flavors are lemon zest, hint of scallion, strong resin or curing epoxy, bittermelon bitter all the way to the end. Overall, this was a very hoppy ride which was layered over a full grain bill. You start with a really light soda-like citrus brightness which then slides precipitously into a resin-engorged, bittermelon slide into beta-acid territory...ostensibly. Goes on Favorites List!

Golden color. Floral and fruity nose and flavor. A little light on the palate to support all that’s going on, but still pretty nice.
