[6122-20140117] Bottle. Fruity candied malt and chocolate red liquorice aroma. Slightly hazy, red brown cola body with a quick foamy off-white head. Chocolatey super roast breadcrumbs flavour. Full body. Delicious, nice balance. (7/3/8/4/16) 3.8

2014-01-17. Black body with a modest tan head fades. 3++ Aroma of sweet vanilla bean over dark malt and toasty roast. Flavour is similar, vanilla and toasty cocoa roast over a pleasant dark malt core. Average plus bodied palate, mild carbonation. Pretty nice. Enjoyable, I don’t love it but prefer it to the barrel aged version. Bottle has some age on it. Bottle shared by Big Red Bendrixian (1514) - Canadiana, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 11, 2013
I sat on this one for a few months so that maybe it could mellow out a little but was I ever disappointed. Toffee and chocolate aroma with McDonalds french fry quality. More of the same on the palate and really not enjoyable bite on the finish. This beer with a weird grassy note and ’shit’ ester quality. jdobbs (411) - New Brunswick, CANADA - JUN 2, 2013
Our second 15th anniversary brew is intensely rich, complex, big, dark, roasty, bittersweet... You get the point! Jet black with a deep tan head, it’s all been leading to this! Malts include Kiln Amber, Kiln Coffee, Aromatic, Carapils, Victory, Wheat, Vienna, Black, Munich, Pale & Dark Chocolate, Light & Dark Crystal, Pale Ale, Rye, Roast Barley, Oat Flakes GothGargoyle (2588) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JUN 1, 2013

500ml bottle. Very dark, pretty much black with some slight red edges, big mocha head. Lots of stuff going on, burnt coffee, chocolate, smoke, tobacco. Taste is very roasty, burnt dark chocolate and coffee. Alcohol doesn’t come through much. Nice, thick body. Overall, the burnt taste kind of spoils this one. I have another bottle I’m going to age and hope it mellows out. JoeMcPhee (10137) - Toronto, ON, Ontario, CANADA - APR 5, 2013
Thanks to gethinbeer for dropping this beast off by my place. Deep black/brown pour with a thin fast-fading tan head. The nose is quite earthy and leathery. An assertive roasted malt flavour, some heavy bitterness and a little bit of salty/soy chewiness as well. Some bitter cocoa and a touch of dark chocolate. There is a very roasty/hoppy bitterness and a touch of roast coffee. A little bit of herbal flavour through the middle. Nice enough - but a bit brawny. It settles down a bit as it warms but it doesn’t really come together. Gethinbeer (2452) - Nova Scotia, CANADA - DEC 16, 2012
Black colour with a frothy tan head and clinging lace. Bitter malt flavour, cocoa and roasted coffee coming through. Smooth texture. Unfortunatley leaves a nasty finish. Cloying horrible feel on the palette. Not sure whats going on. The beer is full of potential, just doesnt deliever. Brewing process? Needs ageing? Will wait on this one. Bottle, thanks to my east coast supply chain friends Colin and Kendra :) . Pours black with red hues with a huge frothy tan head. Aroma features roast, sweet malt notes - smells quite nice. Taste - boozy up front, followed by a syrupy roast sort of middle and a long boozy finish. Rather chocolaty on subsequent sips. I’m not sure this all comes together well - certainly not like the 15 hop anniversary beer which was very good - but age might mellow this one out and change it quite a bit. I’ll have to ask my East Coast friends to age a bottle.
