Bottle at ChrisO’s. Nose of rum, over-ripe peach, honey. Crazy. Dark brown with lace. Thick, rich fruit flavor, raisin and apricot. Wacky and fun.

(Rating #6571)

My Bottom Line:
Candied black cherries, milk chocolate and vanilla thrive in a silky, soft mouthfeel brushed by alcohol warmth.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A sheet of foam covers the mahogany-hued dark brown.
-This isn’t very sweet for the style, which actually is in character for this brewery.
-The flavor profile is deep but not boastful.
-The rum barrel contributes subtly in the flavor profile.

Bottle.

Bottle shared at Chris and Ruth’s pre-GBBF tasting 2015 - London. Cheers to Scopey for this scoop. Pours clear amber-brown with a creamy, tan head. The nose holds plum, toffee and general ripe fruits. Medium sweet flavor with rich, gooey toffee, figs, mellow alcohol. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Warming finish, with more toffee and ripe fruits. Very tasty, and nicely balanced overall.

Scopey (15753) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - AUG 10, 2015
Bottle at ChrisOs Pre-GBBF. I picked this up at the brewery. It pours deep ruby with a thick light tan head. The nose is rich, juicy, fruity, fruit cake, rum, toasty brown sugars, wood, leather and rich spice. The taste is rich, oily, woody rum, fruit cake, raisin, toasted brown sugars, resin, earthy roast warming alcohol and spice with a dry woody finish. Medium - full body and moderate carbonation. Nice woody rum character thought. Rich and well balanced. I rather liked this one.

Pre GBBF tasting as Chris and Ruth’s. Clear dark amber beer, small pale tan head. Palate is light, semi dry. Modest fine carbonation. Smooth dark malts, trace of chocolate. Light vanilla. Mild rum and rum soaked dark fruits. A light sweetish finish. Nice one.
