Bottle. Pours a clear mahogany brown body with a small fizzy light brown head. The nose is rich and malty with lots of caramel and licorice, a slight burnt note, and a touch of alcohol. The flavor is much the same, but a little more boozy than the typical Baltic. Very smooth otherwise, and well lagered, nice chocolate and licorice finish. Full bodied and pretty clingy with a chest-warming finish. Pretty good stuff. mmather (185) - Colorado, USA - JUL 13, 2016
Pretty astringent almost sour aroma, but the rest of this beer makes it so that really doesn’t matter.silky smooth, malty, very drinkable in a way that belies its 9.5% abv. Be careful with this one. Definitely a beer for malt lovers. The_Osprey (7996) - Richmond, Greater London, ENGLAND - SEP 14, 2015
Bottle share at Chriso’s. Many thanks! Cola dark brown, small foamy tan head. Aroma is soft malts, chocolate syrup. Body is medium, tingly carbonation, slightly foamy. Taste is syrupy and toffee-ish up front, tangy fruits with a dry ashy finish, pretty bitter. Nice stuff. Theydon_Bois (19513) - Hazlemere, the lower Xhitlerns, Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - MAY 15, 2015
Bottle in the hotel lobby, RBWG ’15, night 2 - 20/02/15 thanks to whomever shared this number.
Mahogany brown with a moderate beige covering.
Nose is rich roast, dark fruit rinds, light cocoa rub.
Taste comprises dark toffee, rich malt, light charr, spice, chocolate.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close.
Ok Baltic porter. AleRider78 (1133) - Winchester, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 15, 2015
Alrighty. Halifax home of Alexander Keith’s. Neighbour to Garrison. Well, not quite. Next visit to Hali, I must visit! Very nice pour, dark brown colour. Aromas of chocolate, coffee and hints of vanilla. Almost similar in taste, along with roasted malts and molasses. For 9%er, doesn’t feel like it. Deceiving I would say, but in a good way. A little bit bitter aftertaste, but does not diminish overall tastebuds. Yummy!

Bottle during the RBWG lobby share. Pours a clear amber with small white head. The aroma is molasses and brown sugar. Thin mouth with candy sugar and caramel, light booze, nice. Leighton (21258) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - FEB 20, 2015
Bottle shared late night during RBWG 2015. Vintage 2011. Pours reddish brown with a creamy tan head. Some oxidation present on the nose, a bit of cocoa, toasted caramel. Medium sweets or, sugary, with some brown sugar, earthy hops, toffee. Medium to full bodied with average carbonation. Sugary dark malt finish with mellow chocolate. Not bad. 500ml bottle, tasted during RBWG hotel tasting. Hazy amber brown color. Thin off-white head. Ropes and dots and bits of lace. Medium body. Smooth, kind of crisp, sort of soft, lighter carbonation. Light slick finish. Dark chocolate, dark fruit, some oxidization. Medium to bigger body. Smooth, kind of crisp lighter carbonation, mild slick finish. Decent porter, but seems like it’s past its prime. Kind of an acidic finish. Ferris (15308) - Burnaby, British Columbia, CANADA - FEB 20, 2015
