200 rating. Wow what can I say about this amazing brew? Draught at Bar Volo Toronto. Pours midnight dark black with dark tan head, no real lacing. Aroma was alcohol and creaminess, with a hint of cherry. Taste was coffee, maybe some vanilla, bitter, smokey and a bite like a good port. Great brew, can’t wait to have it again. toffsbury (118) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 25, 2012
Deep dark brown with a thin, oily head. Delicious candy aroma, sweet and rich. Thick texture and sweet full flavor of port, caramel, complex loveliness. No hops to speak of, very little in the way of battering. Very nice for dessert; would really wait till after dinner to drink this. VT (2527) - Quebec City, Quebec, CANADA - MAY 27, 2013
500 ml bottle shared with czar, thanks mate. Pours a ruby reddish black with a nice beige head. Aroma is burnt caramel, dark chocolate, coffee. Flavor is dark chocolate, molasses, caramel, brown sugar, black cherry, roasted hazelnut. Finish is black coffee, dark chocolate, but not overwhelming in any way. Medium body, sticky mouthfeel. Weak carbonation. An excellent baltic porter. Hidden_Pooch (518) - Stratford, Prince Edward Island, CANADA - MAY 28, 2014
Bottle. The only Baltic Porter, I have tried, but hopefully not last. Garrison is probably one of my most favourite breweries as it really pushes the envelope for breweries in Atlantic Canada. This beer tasted of dark fruit, chocolate, coffee, roasted malt, liquorice, very complex. A lot going on in this brew, but it all meets in the end. A little boozy, but in a warming way. Not a whole lot of carbonation bot a whole lot of mouth feel. a real great brew. rejtable (2676) - Ontario, CANADA - FEB 23, 2011
UPDATED: FEB 7, 2012 What a beautiful beer in all respects. Frothy head, grand aromas of malt, chocolate, dark fruit and only a hint on the mouth of the alcohol strength.
Update Feb 2012: Still lovely beer. A bit light in the mouth but otherwise outstanding. Also getting molasses.

I tried this beer on June 3, 2011 at "Bar Volo" in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer poured a deep black colour with a thin brown head into a tulip glass. The aroma was roasted malt, coffee, and molasses. The mouthfeel was full with mild carbonation. The flavour was more pronounced in the molasses direction with the coffee tones taking a back seat, but still there.
Bottle generously provided by Ellen & Malcolm. Very deep mahogany with no real head. Mild sweet molasses aroma. Lots of sweet licorice flavour with bitter coffee coming in on the finish with warming alcohol. Really nice stuff. barncatmatt (2286) - Cambridge, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 1, 2009
500 ml bottle from tupalev. thx jeff. pours dark brown with a short tan head. big roasted malt nose. the flavour was similarily of dark roasted malt. really this is an imperial stout that has been lagered. almost as good as the smutty nose baltic but not quite that good. solid beer all around with nothing much that stands out. id buy it regularily if local. albert007 (415) - Penobsquis, New Brunswick, CANADA - DEC 24, 2009
Deep, golden brown. Dark tan head, goes away quickly. Mild, resiny hop notes, charcoal and molasses, crispy toasted yeastish(is that a word?) aroma. Flavor earthy with spice hints, alcohol aftertaste. Medium to thick body. Improves as it warms, warms you up from the inside as well... YUM fata2683 (2176) - Tucson, Arizona, USA - AUG 8, 2010
bottle at the Tally tasting, pours black with a medium tan head. Aroma is bitter roasted malts, cocoa, and soy. Flavor is rich complex layers of roasted, chocolate, caramel, and burnt malts. Very nice.
