COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle; Unfiltered.
Gavroche was a generous and rebellious Paris urchin and a character in the Victor Hugo (1802-1885) novel “Les Misérables.” It is also a strong, amber beer, where the flavour of its top-fermentation yeast combines perfectly with the taste of the special malts. Fermented again in the bottle, the Gavroche beer should be served with care between 10 and 12°C.

UPDATED: OCT 15, 2007 33 cl bottle. Cloudy amber colour and quite fizzy. The head is big and beige. Malty and spicy aroma, with also yeast and some alcohol and roasted notes. The flavour is overall sweet, with some bitterness in the finish. medium body, average carbonation, medium finish. Surely lacks something to be called a classic, but is a very nice beer.

Bottle. Pous a clear amber with a large long lasting off-white head that leaves good lacing. Aroma of caramel malt, yeast, and biscuit malt. Taste is the same as aroma with a hint of pepper. Medium mouthfeel that finishes dry with a high amount of carbonation and mild biterness. Very good.

330ml bottle. Gushes out of the bottle. Bright amber in color with a little haze and a big slightly off-white head that leaves a little lace. Brown sugary malt and dandelions on the nose with a little underlying fruit and a hint of funk. Lively effervescence on the palate with that big brown sugar/caramel taste and a slight sweetness with some fruit esters through the middle and no real hint at the alcohol until the warming finish kicks in.

750ml bottle. Clear orange body, big yellow head with good retention, but almost no lacing. Aroma of grains, yeast, toffee, dried fruits. Taste is sweet and boozy: caramel, apricot and apple jam, yeast, floral hops. Medium oily body.

UPDATED: JUN 5, 2008 Bottle. Amber brown pour, with a ton of head (overflowed out of my Unibroue tulip, actually). Fruity aromas: raisin, apple, pear. Flavor is sweet, with some caramel notes and malts. Smooth and velvet-like on the palate. Recommended.

Bottle. Pours a gorgeous copper with a big fluffy white head. Aroma has rust, lots of yeast characteristics, ester, lemon zest, pretty rural with the farmhouse yeast. Taste is quite malty, caramel, hayish, rural and a lot of yeast characteristics, esters, lime. Pretty decent.

Pours a slightly hazy copper with a small layer of foam and some minimal lace. Aroma of pennies, diacetyl, and amber malt. Tastes oddly sweet - almost sickeningly so at first, but then the hops kick in and attempt to balance the finish. Lots of diacetyl, some alcohol. Thin creamy body, low carb. Not a fan.

Despite, or perhaps correlated with, this bottle being a gusher, this beer looked great. Big ass lively even creamy head with a crystal clear reddish orange hued body. Became a bit cloudy when I pushed the pouring thing. Toasty biscuity malt nose. Subtle. A bit creamy. A hint of fruit. Not awe inspiring, but not bad. A full lively mouth. Small even bubbles. The flavors are pretty much in step with the nose. Big toasty biscuit malt. Bread. A good bit of fruit. Some alcohol sneaks out. A bit of tannic stuff going on. The style seems to support less alcohol usually, so it’s a it odd here. Significant hops, floral. A bit of acidity. Not a huge fan, but not a terrible beer either. Interesting at least.
