Bottle; Unfiltered.
Gavroche was a generous and rebellious Paris urchin and a character in the Victor Hugo (1802-1885) novel “Les Misérables.” It is also a strong, amber beer, where the flavour of its top-fermentation yeast combines perfectly with the taste of the special malts. Fermented again in the bottle, the Gavroche beer should be served with care between 10 and 12°C.

Bottle. Aroma of sherry, malt, raisins. Flavor follows suit. Solid, if not one dimensional.

Appearance with amber color, slightly cloudy liquid and high head of foam. Malty aroma with caramel and fruit. Sweety, hoppy and malty taste. Great beer, very strong and concentrated!

Bottle brought back from France. Pours amber with an off white head. The taste is caramel, citrus and plenty of spiciness. Some warming alcohol that gets more evident as it warms. Not bad.

Très bonne ambrée de la Flandre française, assez forte, une belle puissance et complexité. Oublié la provenance, bue le 15/07/2012.

Amber coloured. Toffee on the nose. Strong & sweet with a big caramel taste with some fruits. A little too malt heavy. Rated by BrewTom

Bottle. Beautiful clear amber pour with a thick head. Aroma is sweet and bready, some fruit and caramel, quite nice. Flavour is also sweet, fruit and bread, a bit cloying without much bitterness to balance, but some nice flavours.

[1 year after the exp. date] </br>Cloudy brown-amber colour, too much carbonation. Malt nose, nuts. Good malt taste, too much alcohol, liquorice; warming. Ordinary palate. Doesn’t age well, and gets some Madeira character.

DrGonzo (625) - Somerville, Massachusetts, USA - OCT 1, 2004
Pours a murky brown with large off-white head. Somewhat unusual aroma, raisins, citrus, dark malts. Flavor takes quite a bit of getting used to, and was extremely intense for the first few sips, with a sharp (think cheese) bitterness. Sour at times, lingering brown bread, black tea, and malt finish, lively carbonation. On the dark end of the biere de garde scale, not unlike a thin bodied dubbel as well. Certainly got better as it warmed.

Geiserich (4382) - Linz, AUSTRIA - APR 18, 2005
Bottled:
Winey aroma, notes of port and alcohol. Amber color, small head. Port wine flavor, light sharpness, medium body. Quite alcoholic. Astringent, sourly and hopbitter finish.
