Bottle; Unfiltered.
Gavroche was a generous and rebellious Paris urchin and a character in the Victor Hugo (1802-1885) novel “Les Misérables.” It is also a strong, amber beer, where the flavour of its top-fermentation yeast combines perfectly with the taste of the special malts. Fermented again in the bottle, the Gavroche beer should be served with care between 10 and 12°C.

UPDATED: MAY 25, 2007 (Bottle) Pours a deep amber body with a moderate off-white head. Aroma of toasted malt, nuts, herbs, and mustiness. Flavor of toasted malt and caramel with a carbonated mouthfeel.

Great amber color not like most biere de Garde. Light but strong. Honey sweet but the alchol hangs out a bit to much.

330 ml bottle. Hazy orange-amber beer with a thick creamy off-white head. Sweet toasty malt, some peppery notes and a pronounced dusty character as well. Sweet, slightly fruity (apple/peach) and a distinctly earthy, UK-type of maltiness. Flavour is also quite fruity, soft but persistent earthy/herbal bitterness. Okay beer, but not great.

Bottle. Cloudy orange coloured with an off white head. Sweet aroma of dried fruits, caramel and alcohol. Flavour of caramel and dried fruits with notes of alcohol.

ABUSEDGOAT (2759) - California, USA - JUL 31, 2006
Amber body with a moderate head, good lacing. Aroma is yeast, caramel, hint of hops. Flavor has some grassy hops in the finish and later some alcohol burn. Not my favorite style, but I didn’t mind this.

Bottle. Pours a hazy dark reddish-orange with a huge foamy off-white head. Aroma of yeast, grain, dark fruit, a faint sourness and alcohol. Flavour is yeasty with lightly sweet malt, some spices and alcohol. Medium bodied. Not bad but it doesn’t do much for me.

esox (1225) - Oulu, FINLAND - DEC 28, 2009
About 1/3 of the content jumped on the table immediately after opening. The rest porured hazy ruby to dark copper wit a huge, fluffy and slightly tanned head. Sweet caramel and creamy toffy on the nose. Bready malts, dark fruits, raisins and some plums. Burnt sugar or syrup and touch of alcohol in the finish. The taste is dryish malty with some sweeter fruitness and sugary elemets. Quite alcoholic finsih. The palate is medium bodied but finishes a bit thin. High-carbonated, sharp and alcoholic texture, ends sticky.

Shared this one w/SkyCop32. Pours a great amber color not like most biere de Garde. Light but strong. Honey sweet but the alchol hangs out a bit to much.

ComradeK (1236) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - SEP 20, 2010
330ml bottle. Pours a clear amber-brown, with a huge head, excellent retention, but very poor lacing. The aroma is a fairly straight-up caramel, with a pine resin tang coming through. There is a light, floral bitterness to begin, moving into a pleasant burnt caramel and pine finish. A quite simple beer, but well-executed and enjoyable.

Noelweichbrodt (25) - St. Louis, Missouri, USA - JAN 17, 2011
This ends up too sweet-bready, overpowering a nice light sticky body and pleasantly soft carbonation. Aroma of herbs, dough, clove, raisin, appearance hazy, amber, red, body frothy, heavy cloying sweetness, lightly sour, light body, sticky, soft carbonation, astringent.
