2015 BJCP Category: 26C Belgian TripelBeer5000 (6489) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - MAY 25, 2016
AROMA: Lemon and orange peel, coriander, black pepper, slight tart character? 10/12
APPEARANCE: Amber hue; body is hazy with sediment floating in suspension. Huge, brilliant froth never dissipates with tremendous lacing. 3/3
FLAVOR: Sweet citrus flavor up front with spicy esters on the back. Soft, rounded grainy-sweet malt (no honey). Yeast esters create for Orange flavor without acidity Difficult to distinguish hop bitterness from natural spicy phenols. Alcohol is present, but complementary with faint vanilla character. Delicious palette. 18/20
MOUTHFEEL: Medium+ body, though gentle. Soft, rounded mouthfeel that feels a bit thick but is still carbonated enough to make it crisp (CO2 fades). Alcohol is tame and smooth; no warming sensation. Mostly dry aftertaste with minor lingering spice. 5/5
OVERALL IMPRESSION: Definitely one of the best examples of the style I can recall. I was worried this was an old bottle! 9/10
TOTAL SCORE: 45/50

750 ml bottle. Unclear orange body with a huge, lacing white head. Aroma has pale malt, spices, some fruit and “sugary alcohol” (probably not a good term, esters might be better). Flavor is quite sweet pale malt, white sugar, mild fruit, yeast and alcohol. Low bitterness. Medium body and moderate, sweet aftertaste with some hot alcohol. Feels quite plain and sticky. UPDATED: JUN 6, 2016 Belle couleur, mousse fine, amertume qui surprend des le début, du coup l’alcool est bien masqué, sinon du fruit et un peu de sucre, j’aime mais impossible de boire ça tout les jours... TEJA (3066) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - APR 6, 2016
Bottle at Pressklubben Stockholm. Long lasting white head. Light opaque solid golden color. Dry herbal aroma. Strong alcohole and smooth malty taste. Low bitterness and big body for a tripple. Hamirubi (587) - Waarschoot, BELGIUM - MAR 20, 2016
33cl bottle at home (19 III 2016), shared with friends. Had it as "Goliath Triple". Now this is a triple in the middle of the road. Golden to yellow, straw coloured with vivid carbonation and a frothy white collar. A strong bodied brew with aromas of wheat and hops. The taste is rather dry, the mouthfeel has a spiritlike body. The taste comes with lots of wheat features, the ending is bitter. A modest Belgian triple, a nice upgrade for the blonde Goliath. sir__v (2629) - FRANCE - FEB 13, 2016
