UPDATED: DEC 5, 2005 Bottle. What is it about this hedgehog? It’s so damn cudly!!! But the pricklyness of the hedgehog doesn’t follow this beer at all. It’s smooth and curves around the tongue, like a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model around my body (yeah, in my dreams!!!). Too anonymous in aroma but it has a nice, licorice and malt flavour to it, that gets along fine with me. When I began doing beer tastings, this beer was among the first I used and as a beginners belgian brune, it is an interesting acquaintance! Don’t serve milk to hedgehogs - serve beer! Deep mahogany brown/orange body with medium brown/tan lacing and dissipating head. Very light aroma of caramel and raisin. Light flavor of caramel and hint of coffee. Smooth palate and lingering cocoa finish. weeare138 (936) - Collegeville, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 16, 2005
Thanks to hopdog for this...
Appears a dark mahogany with a light white head and light scattering of lace.
Smell is of cocoa, currant, raisins, light cherries.
Taste is of the same aromas.
Mouthfeel is light-medium bodied with slight hops and sweetness.
Drinkability is ok. I’m on the fence with this one but I think I like it. TomDecapolis (4618) - Milton, Delaware, USA - SEP 15, 2005
Thanks to HopDog. Pours a cloudy darker red amber with a nice tan head that diminished quickly. A small head did stay around to lace the glass, nice looking beer. Aroma is weaker. But I could pick up prunes, raisons, some chocolate and dark fruits. Flavor is a bit more bland with some chocolate, raisons and I can taste a bit of alcohol. hopdog (12673) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 15, 2005
750ml bottle best before 2007. Very subtle aromas of dark fruits, chocolate, light spices, and very light yeast. Softer tastes of dark fruits, cocoa, dark cherries, and caramel. Even though I had a hard time really picking anything out on this one, it was a good beer. schuimkroaat (427) - Leuven, BELGIUM - JUN 7, 2005
33 cl bottle, bbe 2009. Murky chestnut brown with a small, pretty quickly dissipating beige head. Aroma of chocolate liquor (candies) with some rubbery notes. Flavour: sweet, malt, chocolate, alcohol, peat. A bit spritzy and a bit watery on the palate. Pleasant and very drinkable, but not too complex.
