Faithfully recreated by Geary's, this classic English style has a deep mahogany color and a restrained roasted malt flavor. The result is rich and complex, yet smooth and refreshing.

The brew has a roasted chocolate smell to it. The color is a deep, dark brown with a bit of dark red where the light gets through. The head is a medium brown with almost no clinging to the side and dissipated quickly. The carbonation gets in the way of the roasted malt flavor.

From old tasting notes. Deep brown color. Thick, Rich tan head. Sweet chocolate malt aroma. Silky roasted malt flavor. With coffee undertones. Good flavor and body.

Bottle. Sour milk, chocolate malt, and fresh hay aroma. Black with large tan head. Lightly sweet chocolate malt and moderately bitter ash/hay flavor. Body a bit light. Pretty dry.

Easily the most difficult twist offs I have ever encountered. Dark brown color with a dissipating tan head leaving a small amount of lace. Sweet roasted malt, light earth and cocoa. Not much life in the feel. Fairly dry and toasty. The type of brew you could quaff for a long time and not get bored, but also never really be thrilled. 2/13

Bottle into water glass. Very dark brown, retains a cream head. Make, light chocolate nose.b in the mouth more roasted malt,a bit if hop bitterness. Finishes with roast. Decent but not exciting example of the style.

It poured a dark brown color with a tan head. The aroma was of vanilla, roasted malts, cocoa and some coffee. The taste was similar to the aroma with some bitterness, cocoa, more coffee, roastiness and creamy. Not bad.

I guess I don't like English beers. This one isn't bad. A vanilla kick to it. Cocoa coffee and malts. Had as part of a flight in their tiny tap room in Portland Maine.

12 ounce bottle from Hayduke. Very dark with just a little amber. An ashy and smoky aroma that also has a little brown sugar. Flavor is also ash with tobacco. The cinnamon and toffee are noted as is some chocolate that is syrupy. Some earth and just a hint of fruity bitterness. This is an authentic English porter.

Pours out deep maroon like a cola, but with a brown head that lasts quite a while. Tastes like it smells: light roasts and a little caramel sweetness. Body is a little on the thin side. Pleasant but unexceptional.

Roasted coffee and chocolate aroma. Black body with a this tan head. Roasted coffee and a hint of chocolate. Mild bitterness. Smooth on the finish.
