This beer pours a clear reddish amber that ended up with just a small head. Hoppiness in the aroma, of course, also yeast and banana notes. Alcohol is also present in the smell, surprising for only 6.0abv. Decent bitterness to drink, maybe a tad watery and light. Caramel malts kick in but not strongly enough to overcome the bitter. Strong carbonation and bitter aftertaste. Pass on this one.

UPDATED: JUL 14, 2006 Bottle. Cloudy deep auburn color with a sticky light beige head which manages to cling for entire duration. Flowery aroma. Again I detect a metallic/chemically assault on my taste buds, but not as bad as in their porter. Aside from the not-so-fresh metal undertones, can definitely sense an almost creamy hops presence - definitely caramel in nature as others have indicated here. Carbonation high & slightly distracting. Filling. All-around a "C-minus" seasonal.

This is part of a beer club. Had only one bottle but was decent for the price. Poured great and had a nice finish. Would do again.

Bronze colour. Aroma is raspberry, butter, earthy hops – holy Ringwood! Candyish flavour. Sweet and fruity. Astringent minerally note. Finish grows more bitter, but not enough to save it. Based on this and other recent Geary samples, I think maybe they’ve lost control of their yeast. This is ugly.

Until I looked this up I thought it was a pale lager. IPA? You got to be kidding. No aroma or flavor except for a little skunk. Glad I bought one bottle!!

Bottle. Faint nose of hops with almost no discernable head. Pours light amber with a wannaabe IPA palate. Very thin and watery. A Winter Ale?

12 ounce bottle in Duvel glass. Minimal aroma. Not sure what the hell is supposed to be going on here. Like drinking water from a rusty faucet. I might need a tetanus shot.

no aroma from a amber body with a small white head. Some hop biterness and some honey undertones and a touch of malt in the finish from a very thin body. No way you cold even come close to considering this an IPA.

Bottle. Not one of Geary’s finest brews. When you have HSA as a winter stalwart why did you go and brew this?
