COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Very Robust Porter

L’aroma in bocca riporta sensazioni di caramello, miele, cioccolato, frutta secca, pane tostato, arrostito, resina, agrumi, alcol presente, fumo, legno, torrefatto, caffè e liquirizia.

Bottle at Winston Fest. Dark brown color, steady beige head. Aroma has roastyness, maybe light smoke. Medium-bodied. Toasted, a bit chocolaty, cocoa, some hoppyness. Nice balance.

33cl @ bottle.

[email protected] Black, offwhite head. Plummy cinnamon on nose, soft roast, some wood, dusty yeasty. Med bodied, dry messy finish. This feels just messy, chaotic. Really perculiar fruityness, messy, wonder if it’s really at its prime. Cant say I enjoy it much.

Draught. Pours quite dark brown in color with a tan head. Some roasted notes, citruslicorice mixed with hints of burnt wood and dark chocolate bitterness in aroma. There’s some sweet milk chocolate behind the strong roasted notes in taste. Bit of hoppy citrus notes towards the end.

Tap (St. Urho’s Porter & Stout Days 2015)
Quite aggressive aroma, lots of burnt roast, tons of esters, and a whole load of aromatic hops too. Tons of esters in the mouth too, some wafts up the nose give clue to the strength. Lots of dry powdery coffee grounds and hop bitterness. Big roast, quite burnt, with the hops, it’s tickling astringent. Maybe I’m getting drunk, but I like the challenge to drink the next glug. I can overcome your bitter hoppiness by drinking more of your hoppy dark beer! And it seems to work. Thumbs up to the brewer and the recipe, you’ve created a chinese finger puzzle for fatphil.

(Keg at St Urho’s Pub Portteri ja Stout -päivät ’15) The beer poured black. Its head was small and lightly brown. Aroma had liquorice and sweetness. Palate was medium bodied and dry with medium carbonation. Flavours were burnt malts, ash, sweetness, liquorice and bitterness. Aftertaste was burnt, sweet and bitter. A nice brew but too burnt.
