Small beige head. Barely translucent deep dark red body with small particles. Sugary fruity toffee aroma with candy and licorice notes. Very sweet intense toffee and flour taste with earthy syrupy spicy notes. Very full body. Sweet marzipan and toffee aftertaste with spicy powdery notes. Cinnamon, perhaps? Perhaps they added hops to this, but you could lose a lot of hops in this thing and not notice. It’s not a terrible beer, but it really is too sweet. (0.33l bottle, from wine monopoly, Molde.) Bottle. Pours a deep coca-cola-colored clear brown body with a small beige head. Aroma is marzipan, banana, caramel, raisins, nougat, rum and hints of deep malts, toffee and chocolate. Taste is marzipan, white sugar, rum, toffee, caramel, raisins and hints of alcohol, deep malty notes, toffee and chocolate. Full body, medium to high carbonation. A rather decent quadrupel, although with a bit too much marzipan-sugar tones for me. Still, a well-brewed specimen of the quad family, which is a nice surprise from a fairly new, small and low-distributed brewery like Geiranger. Warming and pleasant.
