Draft. Pours near black with a tan head. Roasty malty aroma with some light booze. The flavor is roasty and dark fruity, with earthy and floral hops. Decent, but a little bit boozy. adrian910ss (2590) - Doylestown, PA, USA - AUG 11, 2010

UPDATED: MAY 12, 2010 This was the best beer that I sampled under the general’s roof. A fresh, dark bread aroma, with vanilla and citrus. Full, roasty grain/bread flavor, and pleasantly sweet too. Excellent! alobar (3879) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 5, 2010

red/brn pour with ring head. Dark fruit aromas. Smooth and sweet although I couldn’t taste the alcohol much at all. I bit too sweet and sticky for my taste, but not bad at all.
Growler. Thick black pour with a tan head. Aroma of liquorice, dark chocolate, roasted malt and light vinous notes. Flavors of roasted malt, dark chocolate, liquorice, coffee, earthy hops and a bit of a booze kick.Thick body, roasty/bittersweet with a roasty finish. hophead75 (2012) - Largo, Florida, USA - AUG 27, 2007
shared by Dickinsonbeer at BBD 07. Just about black in color with a light brown head. Aroma was pretty nice and the usuals for an IS- roast, coffee, chocolate, caramel, light notes of dark fruit. Taste incorporated the items listed in the aroma. Nice and full bodied, creamy texture. Very well balanced between the hop bittering, roast, and sweet malts. kmweaver (3207) - Petaluma, California, USA - JUL 26, 2007
Growler, courtesy of dmac621. Thanks, Dave! Pours a murky, dark brown color; light brown head with patchy lacing. Smoky, roasted malts and dark chocolate; some coffee. Dense, dried dark fruits and roasted coffee in the mouthfeel; slightly fizzy carbonation. Lengthy, dry coffee and dark chocolate finish. 3fourths (9357) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - JUL 24, 2007
Vintage unknown. Sampled from a growler. Carbonation is soft, flavors are subtle milk chocolate, charred fruit and it has a bit of creamy mocha in the finish, but again, the flavors are pretty subtle and faint. A little pasty on the palate, alcohol easily noticed, with some vodka/potato flavors as well... which is stranga. Nice is very light and faint, with milk chocolate and cocoa scents. Looks good, though, with a brown mocha head. Saarlander (1686) - Saarlouis, GERMANY - JUN 25, 2007
UPDATED: JUL 3, 2007 Hand bottle from Ty5592 thanks ty.
Maybe the most drinkable Imp Stout I’ve had, alcohol isn’t noticeable at all, slight coffee, plenty of roasted flavor, Chocolate, some dark fruit and sweetness on the finish. A great beer, could drink it everyday! A +
