Gimme a Genny.... NOT. You can understand why the lost market share. People don’t drink swill unless they see it on TV ClarkVV (6709) - Boston, Massachusetts, USA - JUL 10, 2002
UPDATED: JAN 29, 2004 Overpowering cereal taste. Grainy and very heavy corn/alcohol taste. a horrible beer by all standards. DougShoemaker (3147) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 21, 2002
Sweet smell, pale yellow, grassy, flat. Light and fluffy, ordinary. austinpowers (2828) - San Francisco, California, USA - JUN 18, 2002
Genesee Beer is adequate, but the Cream Ale’s the one to buy. This is very fizzy and lacks any malt punch. krisfleet (130) - Sharon, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 30, 2002
One of the best among cheap beers. If your struggling for cash this is a plausible solution to your beer needs.

Smells nasty. Looks nasty...but looks can be decieving. This is honestly one of the most refreshing beers i have ever had. TheDude (20) - Trenton, New Jersey, USA - MAY 22, 2002
While this may rate high among most cheap brews, that does not make it a great beer. Oh well, cheap and somewhat smooth. Axle3380 (95) - montvale, New Jersey, USA - MAY 19, 2002
its alright...whatever nothing special olympian (107) - USA - MAR 24, 2002
Ah, Genny - long time no see!
Haven’t had this in years, but it was the western New York mainstay when I worked there.
An OK, not great, beer, but I’d drink it over Miller or Bud any day.
Has an umistakeable ’working man’s brew’ character - interpret that as you wish. I liked their homely old label - kinda sorry to see they’ve changed it.
This was sold in short, squat bottles (like Red Stripe) many years ago - don’t know if it still is or not. trebor99 (8) - east westfield, New York, USA - MAR 11, 2002 does not count
Genny is good beer and the last of the type of American beer made by local breweries. It has a real beer taste, aroma, and has a nice head. It great on a summer afternoon with a hot dog. Honest brew worth trying. Its NOT the cheap crap that these other reviewers make it out to be. Give it a try.
