From a can. Pours a highly carbonated thin yellow with little head to speak of. If you really give it a sniff, you might notice a hint of malts but mostly you notice metal. Watery. Sort of dry. I don’t hate this beer. In fact I prefer it over other more common lights., But when I buy Genesee, I usually go for the Cream Ale or the Bock (when I can find it). At least those merit ratings of 2 on my taste scale. ShamRock (20) - Rochester, New York, USA - AUG 6, 2007
Yuck! This beer sucks out loud. It makes me wanna cry. Why would someone unleash this filth onto the world. Sometimes when I pray at night I pray that the good lord will see fit to take this beer from us. emobassfoo (178) - Webster, New York, USA - JUN 28, 2007
Couldn’t find regular Genesee at Wegmans, so there was the choice between Genny Ice and Genny Light. Knowing that ice beers usually taste like shit, I chose the light. Aroma is somewhere between rusted metal and rotten veggies. Piss-colored, no head. Compared to other macro lights, the flavor is actually surprisingly -- different? After a few cans, it becomes kind of tasty. Nothing to brag about but at least it tastes like beer, not water. Really carbonated upfront, then slides into some astringent aftertaste. Surprisingly I honestly thought the ABV was higher than 3.6 because of the pretty strong taste. As you can tell, I wrote a lot about this cheap beer cause I’ve already had quite a few. keepersj12 (3137) - Sicklerville, New Jersey, USA - MAY 11, 2007
I picked this up by mistake one day. Thought it was the cream ale. I gave it to the neighbor I can’t stand. jgentgesdo (694) - Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA - FEB 5, 2007
Pours pale yellow with thin white bubbly head. Nose is faint corn malt. Fairly inoffensive flavor, with more corn malt and a little metallic taste from the can. Very, very watery mouthfeel, slight metallic aftertaste. Basically water.

UPDATED: JAN 23, 2007 The aroma is faint and unappealing. Lets see, there is fuel with a hint of corn and metal. The appearance is light pale gold with a small head. The flavor is watery with metal in the fore and corn malt in the finish. Notice a trend here? The palate is thin but not as watery as I was expecting. Even so, this beer is pretty much what you would expect. 1eyeJohnson (1) - USA - NOV 30, 2006 does not count
The beer reeks of hydrogen sulfide. That’s the smell of rotting eggs, by the way. We bought a case; after about 3 each we were nearly vomiting though still completely sober. The day after everyone had nasty-ass rotten egg farts and couldn’t eat. If you want to punish someone, leave a case of this shit on their doorstep. redsoxnation80 (1) - USA - OCT 12, 2006 does not count
I bought a 30 pack for a WICKED price of 9.99 up in NewHampshire at a PACKIE. This beer had no real flavor, but it gets the job done. All i gotta say is GO PATS and GO SOX!!! Beerdedone (3452) - Croydon, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 30, 2006
Can. Pale yellow\gold with a white head. Aroma of corn, grain, sweet malts. Flavor is smooth and better than most macro light brews. Thin body, nothing good, but drinkable. DeanSkween (1) - Gattoville, Rhode Island, USA - MAY 16, 2006 does not count
Do you like the taste of Land O’ Lakes Butter and carbonated oil? Well then genny Light is for you. Do you like the taste of steel, grain alcohol and Genny Light? Then Genny Ice is for you. Do you not have a brain and enjoy the taste of sewage? Then Genesee NA is for you. This beer is filthy.
