It was fine. Nothing special. Nutty, but not super smooth. I probably wouldn’t order it again. BillKismet (4041) - Seattle, Washington, USA - MAR 10, 2012
Light bronzed amber, faced head. Pleasant nutty nose with a respectable brown malt backbone. Dusted nut and brown malt melds enjoyably together on the palate. Nice mouthfeel and just well put together bu11zeye (13029) - Frisco (Dallas), Texas, USA - FEB 1, 2012
(Draught) Pours a clear copper-brown body with a medium beige head. Aroma of chocolate, graham cracker, caramel, and nuts. Flavor of chocolate, nuts, light roasted malt, and caramel. skoisirius (1909) - Earth, Washington, USA - JUN 28, 2011
Draft at the pub. Ok nut brown. Slight roast, slight almondy flavors. Mild caramely malts in the background. Kind of watery. troyc (2869) - Illinois, USA - MAR 19, 2011
[Tap] Pours a light brown color with a slight haze to it. Not much head. Aroma of cocoa powder and vanilla. The taste was mainly of milk chocolate, mild coffee and sweet toffee. Lingering roasted malt finish. Light in body and seemed a bit watered down. Not too bad, but not great either.

Pours a deep brown color from the tap with an off-white head of foam. Smells of watered don coffee and tastes predominantly of dark cocoa and hazelnut. Not very balanced at all. careyj (7) - Houston, Texas, USA - AUG 19, 2008 does not count
This beer smelled of pencils and tasted like it as well. This was my least favorite beer of my Arizona vacation. cbkschubert (2901) - BFE, Arizona, USA - OCT 14, 2007
Growler fill from Barrio Brewing Co. - Pours a clear brown color with a one finger thick light tan head. Light lacing. Aroma is caramel malt. Flavor is caramel malt and has a light nuttiness to it. Light to medium body. A good, typical Brown ale. Worth a try. Bockyhorsey (2628) - Mesa, Arizona, USA - APR 30, 2005
Aroma of malty chocolate. Brown but amber when held to light. Head at first then disipated to thin layer on top of beer leaving lacing on the glass. Clean on the palate with a roasted flavor and aftertaste. Good beer wish Gentle Ben’s was closer to home. PuckLSHS (101) - USA - MAR 7, 2005
Very rich and deep amber color. It was slightly more sweet and nutty than I was hoping for. There was a balance problem with this nut brown. Had a nice finish but a harsh initial taste, but as the beer warmed up it found a better balance. This would be a great beer on a cold day while sitting in front of the fire roasting nuts. For people who want a roasted flavor and not so subtle texture, this beer is a great pick.
