Proud, headstrong, full of character. Charles V, Holy Roman Emperor, gave all these attributes to the rebellious Ghent “stroppendragers” or noose-wearers. And what goes for the people of Ghent also goes for this strong blonde beer. Nose/aromas: Relatively complex nose with hints of fruit (banana, citrus fruits), herbs, yeast, honey and sweet malt. Flavour: Refreshing in the mouth, pleasant sweet malty attack followed by hints of herbs and yeast, medium-long finish with subtle, slightly bitter touch.

Really nice beer! Some bitterness, some hoppy tones but yet quiet fruity! Drank this before in belgium.

Bottle 0,33 l, Carrefour, Wrocław, Poland.
Jasnozłote, mętnawe piwo z obfitą, kremową i trwałą pianą oraz biszkoptowo-owocowym aromatem. W smaku słodowe, biszkoptowe z owocowymi nutami oraz cierpkim, lekko rozgrzewającym finiszem.

Bottle. Pours very much like a Duvel. Aroma: grape juice, some lemon, big whiff reveals cheese, yeast, spinach. Ok. Taste is somewhat similar to Duvel, although sweeter. Grape juice returns, some lemon and saison hints in the evolution. Not bad.

Very clean with and grass and lemon. Would never make this at 7, so easy to drink. Heavy carbonation but more of a fine champagne fizz so not overly gassy. Overall a bit thin but something about it exudes quality. Would love to try this again in a sunny beer garden with friends.

33cl bottle from beer52.co.uk Pale straw with a billowing white head and a fine champagne-like carbonation; aroma of Belgian yeast and some grassy hops; sweet grainy body; and some coriander and warmth to finish. A pleasant Belgian Ale.

Bottle from Mam and Dad’s Holiday, Belgium. Hazy straw coloured with floral and herbal citrus flavours, grassy notes followed by toffee and spiced cinnamon on the finish.

UPDATED: AUG 3, 2015 Bottle from Den Engel, Leek. Pours a clear golden colour with a thin white head. Aroma of citrusy lemon, some Belgian yeast and grassy, floral hops. Taste is dry of lemon, some lime, slight caramel, subtle Belgian yeast and grassy, floral hops. Light bodied and moderate carbonation. A crisp, dry, floral hoppiness in the finish. Overall, a nice and refreshing beer.

LaViolette (115) - Brussels, BELGIUM - JAN 4, 2015
I didn’t find this beer interesting at all, made me think of a slightly better version of a classic Duvel. Interesting nutty and malty nose but palate is not very pleasant.

chromeotaphor (170) - NETHERLANDS - JAN 3, 2015
Heldergoud met medium carbonatie. Flinke forse schuimkraag. Hoppig licht fruitig aroma waar het aroma mooi in verborgen zit. In de mond komt de carbonatie flink tot uiting, hoppige fruitige aromas komen vrij met de nadruk op de hop. Klein bitter pittig afdronkje.

adamnowek (2709) - Brussels, BELGIUM - DEC 25, 2014
Clear and golden in colour with a small but persistent head. Light in body and taste with relatively high carbonation.
