COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An experiment brewed during the hop shortage, this "accident" has become one of our most popular beers. It doesn’t earn the title of Full Time beer, but our customers have made it clear we should keep this hopped-up version of our red ale in stock, or else.

Sampler at the brewery. This is the kind of beer that I never liked and its not even what I don’t usually like about it. Its just a lot of malts that aren’t sweet but just messy. The bitterness isn’t super strong, kind of indistinct hops. Just a lopsided, uninteresting beer that would have been cool a decade ago.

mcberko (18979) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - FEB 8, 2015
On tap at Georgetown, pours a clear amber with a small beige head. Nose brings out quite a bit of resin, along with hemp and bready caramel. Flavour is well-balanced, with lots of resinous hops and caramel malt. Big robust flavours with a hempy finish. Solid big red ale.

Ferris (16521) - Burnaby, British Columbia, CANADA - FEB 7, 2015
Draft - Caramel, resin and earthy. Clear copper with a rich beige head. Up front bitterness, earthy hops and a long bitter finish. Bitter through and through.

AmEricanbrew (7011) - Same Trailer, Different Park, Louisiana, USA - DEC 25, 2012
Clear amber color with lasting ivory head. Nice floral, citrus hop aromas. medium body. Very good floral, citrus, tropical fruit hoppy flavors in a caramel malt base--tasty red

3.7
Dogbrick (13789) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - SEP 18, 2012
Sample at the brewery tap room (as "Superchopp"). The beer is a clear dark amber color with a medium bone white head that recedes steadily to an outer ring. Partial rings of lacing. Aroma of malt, hops and caramel. Medium-bodied with flavors of piney hops, citrus and caramel malt. The finish is malty up front with a resiny hops aftertaste. Above average overall.

shadey (2166) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - AUG 20, 2012
on tap at the brewery. I’m again confused by the ESB categorization. I understood this to be their super-IPA offering. Dark in color with monster hop presence. The body was substantial - a high quality, bigger IPA. It wasn’t anything that stood out to me, and given the opportunity, I would much rather pound a bunch of the Johnny Utah.

Beerona97 (2399) - Washington, USA - FEB 1, 2012
Sample at brewery. Clear gold, thin white head. Aroma of pine and floral hops, toffee. Taste is well balanced with sweet malt and bitter hops. Great beer.

Indeed a hoppier version of Choppers. citrus hops are everywhere. lots of grapefruit aroma and flavor. almost hopped to soapyness. quite sweet. i think a an imperial amber is an apt description.
