Bottle from Lidl, deep brown with a beige foam and a light burnt caramel nose. Oddly thin bodied, with more burnt sugar and a light burnt bitterness.

PotjeBier (3450) - Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - DEC 2, 2016
On tap @ Gasthof Euverum, a stone’s throw distance from the Gulpener brewery, so should be really fresh. Deep ruby redbrown pour. Nice dense off white to beige head with good lacing. Aroma’s of dark malt, caramel, light chocolate and red fruit. Retronasal it’s sweetish, red fruit, caramel. Flavor is moderate sweet, caramel malts with hints of bitterness and roast. Medium bodied. Light roasty bitterness in the finish. Clean and technically ok, but quite dull.

On tap at the Blooming Hotel, Bergen NL on 22-Nov-2016. Dark browna beige coloured head. Aroma of sweet malt, caramel, sugar and spices. Medium body and carbonation. Sweet and heavy. Lots of caramel, chocolate, molasses, dark fruit and clove. Bittersweet sticky finish. OK, but a little too sweet for my palate.

Gaelic (189) - Rotterdam, NETHERLANDS - NOV 18, 2016
Ruby red colured. Cream white small head. Tate of dry bread, prunes and a clear taste of sour. Less sweet then the average double.

(Draught at Arendsnest, Amsterdam, 14 Sep 2016) Dark reddish brown colour with frothy, beige head. Malty nose with caramel, chocolate and roasted nuts. Malty taste with notes of caramel, chocolate, prunes, raisins and a gentle spicy bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with a certain sweetness. Tasty and well balanced, but hardly exciting. Quite enjoyable.
