Bottle looks good, the beer in the glass also. Tastes mild-malty. Maltiness becomes stronger, smoky finish. Aftertaste like velvet. Good beer! Emil (6065) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - MAR 10, 2008
Bottle. A red brown beer with a big beige head. The aroma and taste is of caramel malt and rye bread. Medium body with a light sweet finish. ganache (5953) - New Jersey, USA - NOV 23, 2011
Tap in Strassenbahn. Dark brown-red body with a lacing rocky white head. Nose is sweet roast and red berry. Taste is drier with surprisingly medium bitterness. No mocha or choco or earth, but it’s padded-walls smooth and medium body. Drier and with some bitterness, kuphish says it’s like Newcastle with balance, and I tend to agree. Thanks Ogi! Wow, beautiful, really beautiful dark ruby red with a big, thick, somewhat lasting off white-beige head. Bready/grainy malty aroma, sweetish, mild dog food. Then the taste is better than expected, the graininess actually has a roasty overtone with notes of dark chocolate. Tiny light slightly metallic herbal hoppy note, but it’s hidden well enough and the maltiness is just beautiful at times, even if dog food shows again. Medium body, ok for the strength. They might not impress at pale lagers, but my first encounter with their dark beers is a very pleasant surprise.
