Clear brown body, medium white head. Aroma of raisin, light toffee, earthy notes. Flavours of toffee, toasted malt, earth... earthy finish. Feels like it was filtered with my green plants... weird ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Color: Dark reddish brown, dense beige head. Taste: Roasted malt, hints of caramel and chocolate. Soft carbonation. Medium to light body, bit watery and flat taste. Decent beer but not exciting.

Stabiler Schaum, hektische Perligkeit, dunkelbraun.

swing top bottle 500ml. -from Galeria Kaufhof Berlin am Alexanderplatz. Darker amber coloured, small to medium sized pale beige head, caramel and slight roasty nose. Mild roasted malt, caramel, light grainy and touch of chocolate with notes of herbs and sugar in the finish. Simple dunkel but quite good indeed.

Thanks Ogi! Wow, beautiful, really beautiful dark ruby red with a big, thick, somewhat lasting off white-beige head. Bready/grainy malty aroma, sweetish, mild dog food. Then the taste is better than expected, the graininess actually has a roasty overtone with notes of dark chocolate. Tiny light slightly metallic herbal hoppy note, but it’s hidden well enough and the maltiness is just beautiful at times, even if dog food shows again. Medium body, ok for the strength. They might not impress at pale lagers, but my first encounter with their dark beers is a very pleasant surprise.

Maker: Privatbrauerei Gessner, Sonneberg-Malmerz, Germany Beer: Alt-Sumbarcher Dunkel (bottled, 500ml) Style: German "Dunkles" ALC.VOL.: 5.2% Brown ale by a Thuringian brewery that dates back, allegedly, to 1622. Now the largest privately owned brewery in the state. Colour: Dark mahogany, clear, huge beige head Nose: Barley & roasted malts, wee bit of hops & brown sugar Texture: Medium bodied, slightly oily, creamy Taste: Roasted malts and toffee at first, bit of raisins, slightly sweetish. Floral hops enter towards the middle, balanced by coffee malt. No fruit remains. Dry now. Finish is more obviously bitter, with moderate coffee notes. Malty aftertaste of moderate length, some mildly sour elements at the end. Impressions: Rather typical German "Dunkles", a bit stronger in the coffee notes department than some. Not too characterful, but not too flat either. Perfectly drinkable session brown ale.

Bottle from biershop.com. Pours a deep brown colour with an off white head. Aroma of sweet roasted malt, raisin and prune. Medium sweetness, with a light roasted bitterness. Body medium, texture is somewhat oily. Carbonation average. Has a sweet roasted finish.
