Beautiful dark amber color. Aroma of malt, caramel, wet cereals; sweet. Good body structure, a bit dry in the beginning; strong caramel flavor; good bitterness level. Straight-forward, but well brewed. kappldav123 (6158) - GERMANY - SEP 27, 2008
Bottle looks good, the beer in the glass also. Tastes mild-malty. Maltiness becomes stronger, smoky finish. Aftertaste like velvet. Good beer! kuphish (381) - Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA - NOV 22, 2011
On draft at Straßenbahn. Clear, brown body with a rocky, off-white head. Lasting and lacy. Malt comes through big in the nose - big black sun tea presence. Some faint raisin notes. Bigger raisin in the flavor, actually all I can taste, but not in a bad way. Light-medium body. Malt forward with light, but balancing bittering hops. Avoids being cloying. Raisin lingers a bit with exhalation. Really quite like this beer! Grima (2511) - Merzkirchen, RLP, GERMANY - FEB 8, 2012
Sorry for the german rating, but this is a lousy rating from my "newbie" time (2007-2009), and it’s not worth of being translated. I just added it for the statistics, and to complete my backlog!

Rating from 2005. Schön malzig-süffiges Dunkel. Leicht süßlich, kaum Herbe feststellbar. Dennoch lecker. --> 12

Thanks Ogi! Wow, beautiful, really beautiful dark ruby red with a big, thick, somewhat lasting off white-beige head. Bready/grainy malty aroma, sweetish, mild dog food. Then the taste is better than expected, the graininess actually has a roasty overtone with notes of dark chocolate. Tiny light slightly metallic herbal hoppy note, but it’s hidden well enough and the maltiness is just beautiful at times, even if dog food shows again. Medium body, ok for the strength. They might not impress at pale lagers, but my first encounter with their dark beers is a very pleasant surprise. scotty (1235) - SCOTLAND - APR 29, 2006
Nice mid-tawny colour. The good off white head looked as if it would hang around for a while, but after my first swig it seemed to give up and died very quickly! The nose is quite rich and malty with more than a hint of spice, there are some nice floral hops at the back ...a big plus point. A fairly full bodied brew with a good malt presence, but well balanced by a distinctive hoppy bitterness, a crackin’ beer. This was bought by my wife (who constantly moans about the amount of beer I drink) at one of those continental markets that appear from time to time in a town near you!!! Some lasting head, brown. Quite roasted and sticky nose almost bacon smoke. Semifull and medium length. Taste is caramel. Bacon

Pours out of the swing-top bottle in a unclear dark brown colour with steady head and medium body. Nose of malt and caramel. Taste of dark nuts, caramel, nuts, vanilla, barley and dull hops. Hints of barrel. Easy to drink, quaffable. Solid beer. peponi (2103) - Strzelce Wielkie, POLAND - MAR 7, 2014
Aroma: maltiness, roasted wheat.
Apearance: nice dark brown color, beige head.
Taste: roasted crust of bread, dark malts, medium bitterness (pharmaceutical), malty backbone.
Palate: medium body, medium carbonation, roasted finish.
Overall: Nice dunkel with some accents of alt, but still nothing outstanding.
