COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewers in the midlands of England would boil their barley wines ales for longer times to intensify their flavors. In making Massive! we used only British Halcyon pale malt and boiled for eight hours, giving the beer a deep ruby color and rich malt flavor. Heavily hopped, Massive! is a beer that can be enjoyed now for its intensity, or after years and years and years of aging.

BBE Ruskean semikuulaan vaahdoton, hapoton.

Bomber, 2017 vintage. Dark fruit aroma with notes of caramel, toffee, booze and a bit of cherry. Pours cloudy ruby-caramel colored with a thin tan head that has excellent retention and lacing. Starts with sweet dark fruit, toffee and caramel malt sweetness as well as a rich, full body and smooth mouthfeel. Finishes very smooth and sweet with some cherry joining with rich, sweet malt and fruit with a hint of warming booze at the end. Really nice barleywine.

22 oz. bottle. Pours a minimal, poorly retained light beige head, over a clear light brown (SRM 22) body........nose is heavy dried fruits, with plum, raisin, cherry tones, brown sugar, toffee/caramel, slight cracker, minimal hops, balance to the malts.......taste is sweet with dried fruit notes, toffee/caramel tones, brown sugar, light tobacco tones, finishing slightly dried, with hints of hop spice and mild bitterness, balance to the malts.....mouth feel, heavy sticky body, alcohol warmth present, carbonation makes a creamy mouthful. This is a heavily malt dominated beer as a result of the chosen malts and their long boil. The high alcohol is relatively hidden by the malty sweetness and complexity. BJCP 8/3/14/4/7

22 ounce bottle. 2016 vintage. Translucent mahogany brown color. Small creamy beige head. Rich caramel malt nose. Notes of figs, Demerara sugar, brandy, plum and more. Rich, bittersweet malt flavor. Dried fruit, plums, burnt sugar, vanilla and herbal hops. Complex and flavorful, with a warming alcohol finish. Smooth and delicious.

A nice standard, but tasty barleywine. Pours a beautiful deep Amber with a tan head. Smells of barleywine. Taste is quite sweet, standard barleywine, with a malty finish.

03.05.2015, tap @ Mikkeller Bar:
Tiny shortlasting head. Aroma is slightly sweet grainy, sugar, wet grass, grain, sap, bark, harsh hops, worth, leafs, weeds caramel. Taste is slightly sweet and harsh, sugar, sap, wet grass, bark, caramel malts, harsh hops, weeds, worth, even more sugar. Medium bitterness, harsh mouthfeel. Not my cup of tea.
