COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewers in the midlands of England would boil their barley wines ales for longer times to intensify their flavors. In making Massive! we used only British Halcyon pale malt and boiled for eight hours, giving the beer a deep ruby color and rich malt flavor. Heavily hopped, Massive! is a beer that can be enjoyed now for its intensity, or after years and years and years of aging.

UPDATED: MAY 11, 2015 Rich deep brown coloured body with a faint tan head. Aroma of alcohol, caramel, nuts, earth, grain, pit fruits and a lot of alcohol. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong caramel and nutty notes with a lot of pit fruits and raisins throughout along with a big malt body, some alcohol and slightly bourbony notes with a lot of unfinished sugars. Aftertaste shows that malt, apples, grain and oak notes that show up, with a lot of alcohol and some how even more pitfruits than in the flavour. Overall, a nice fresh barley wine, but this would only get better and more smooth over time. Great to sample and definitely worth searching out for if you can get it! I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Zupan’s (Burnside) in Portland, Oregon, yesterday on 02-May-2015 for US$12,49 sampled in my hotel room day later, here in Portland, on 03-May-2015.
