Bottle, shared at game night. Dark brown with a beige head. Estery yeast, grassy notes, both kind of clash with brown bread and chocolate flavours. Black saisons are strange creatures. batneil (805) - California, USA - SEP 3, 2017
Unusual. Pitch black with brownish head. Fairly fizzy. Spicy and/or herby flavour. Quite pleasant. marcus (10976) - Sacramento, California, USA - AUG 25, 2017
On tap at Final Gravity. Pours near black with a thick tan head and a fruity chocolate aroma. There is a medium-bodied dark malt flavor with a little bit of fruit, giving it a coffee sort of taste, though I am pretty sure there is no coffee in the brew. Unusual but quite tasty.

Like many "Black Saisons" (if you can truly say there’s many of them), The City Never Sleeps is a dark-colored beer that doesn’t exactly fit in either the Saison or the Stout styles. It does have earthy yeast notes, but the roasted malt character is stronger. Lightly charred barley, dark fruits, and cherry. Medium carbonation, and it feels lighter than its 7.3%. Definitely not as thick and heavy as most beers on this color spectrum. This is a strange brew, but it drinks beautifully. j12601 (13473) - Poughkeepsie, New York, USA - JUL 13, 2017

From tap at Gigantic Brewing, Portland. Aroma is dark roasted malt, soft fruity notes, chocolate, hint of yeast, some pine resin. Flavour is moderate sweet and bitter. Body is medium. Only getting a hint of the Saison yeast character, it’s more like a very soft fruity hop Stout. Starts out a bit modest but yields more character down the road. wombat23 (2168) - Texas, USA - JUN 6, 2017
Bottle. Pours dark brown with a creamy beige head. Aroma of roasted malt and chocolate. Taste is roasted malt, chocolate, mushroom, dark red berries, earth, wood. Labeled as an Imperial Black Saison on the bottle. Hmmm. Don’t know about that. It’s unique, but definitely not saison-like. fiulijn (21528) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAY 2, 2017
Draught at Alibi Room, Vancouver; 8% ABV
Black color with creamy beige head. Solid dark beer, with strong chocolate and malt flavor, not ashy, with mild earthy character that is possibly from the "Saison" yeast.
Round beer, well constructed, very pleasant.
